The Penance Crusade (Motivational)

Greetings Brethren,

 This is in response to a few members that posted on my new BT thread. we are starting a Crusade for Penance! Redemption will be ours.

First, some house keeping and Guidelines;

 

1. there will be absolutely no Hard deadlines. just get your vow done, when you can as best you can!

2. Vows, you must finish one vow to move on to the next. the focus here is to complete units for our glorious Adventures!

3. If the vow is something you will never use, Screw it, substitute something you will use!

4. A completed vow will consist of an assembled(including any kitbash/conversions) and painted Force Org slot.

5. I know not everyone is a total Puritan like myself, so I will not disallow Centurians. I personally hate the notion of these, but I accept that they are a fact of life for us now. I would also ask that we keep it light. Our Army is in a weird flux right       now. and I don't really want to see any division or Schism in us. we have weathered far worse. let's remind people why we call the other       Astartes "lesser Chapters"

 

 

 

When posting you vow, be creative. we are known for "Roleplaying" in this forum, let's play up to that! You will notice that there will be no Points requirements, ever. this is not a competition, It is purely motivational.

 

Post number two is for the Vow list and Roll of Arms.

VOW #1- Independant Character(emperor's champion, Chaplain, Marshal, Castellan, Techmarine, Grimaldus, Helbrect, ETC.)

 

VOW #2-Elites choice

 

VOW #3-Troops choice

Furioso-prime:Black Templars, In Honorem Nikaeam

You need to change guidline 3 to will Never use. It's currently ever. That said, sign me up!

 

I, The chaplain, pledge myself and the forces at my disposal on this most penitent of crusades! I have returned to the hobby so that I may crusade besides my fellow Sons of Dorn!  True, we Confessors do not bear the same colored army of our compatriot Black Templars, but in this most grim hour- when the Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by foes of every shape, disposition and hue- one singular Imperial truth rings clear....

 

    The hearts of all Sons of Dorn pump with lifeblood as bright, and vibrant as the yellow of our Primarch's legion!

 

So, brothers? What say you? Will you allow my Confessors to march in step beside their brothers in most pious black? May we take up arms in this Penitent crusade alongside you?  And when the time comes, may we too bellow the warcry that will rattle the bones, and very fortifications of the enemy's resolve?

I can udnerstand allowing Centuirions, Devastators, even Legion of the Damned, but Librarians?

I agree with Firepower- unless people model allied librarians, BT libbies are a no go.

I totally agree man! It's just we can't disallow anyone for whatever reasons.  personally HATE the very notion. but, I am not about intolerance to whatever someone else wants to do with their hobby. we'll just make fun of them like Real Templars!

well, the first vow is Technically an Emperors Champion but as Guideline #3 states..........

 

maybe another IC?

On the the first vow note, I may be a little over zealous.  let's see three torso fronts for the body. 5 different weapons being butchered to make the Black Sword, OOP metal shoulder pads(modified, of course) a Resculpted helm(FW MK II)modifeid Assault Squad Legs Over the top backpack.

 

sheesh, there will probably be arnoud 30 different kits laying down their lives for this guy. when is it to much?

Meh- I'm combining  a bunch for mine too Furioso- gabriel seth, one of the masters of the chapter, sevrin loth honor guard, probably gonna swap feet out with jump pack chaplain feet for a medieval look, etc.  

 

Emperor's champions should be an over the top, elaborate conversion.  Fluff wise there are 10 black swords, and I assume as many suits of champion armor.  Might as well go nuts.

my guy is going to be based off the BT MK4 torso, with a bonus cross dead center of chest, a grey knight throat guard, and a loin cloth based off of one of the BT Tabard torsos......lot's of cutting, lot's of patience!

 

I may make an attempt at 12^th Century "Soupcan" style Knee and elbow Cops. going to add Haute Guards to the Pauldrons. sculpt heraldic cross onto a MK II helm. adding more chains, MORE crosses, and prbably a dead Psyker on the base. for S&G's

I have an EC already and although I'm not happy with how he turned out, he'll get me by for now.

 

Now Chaplains...that's another story. I only have five or so and you cannot have too much faith. So a Chaplain it shall be.

 

I'll start rustling up some bits as it looks like he's going to have to be pretty epic just to stand in your guy's shadow.

@Mandolore511: I just love those models and hope to acquire them some day soon. When you get them, would you mind posting whether or not the heads are separate? I would fancy mine in helmets.

Yeah the heads are separate... however the neck area and the bottom of the heads supplied are flat... a decent amount of modding would be required to swap for helmets.

 

I think I'm just gonna get and mod some of the little DA helmet drone guys and add them to the bases... maybe I'll pull the heads off and swap them though... need to think on it.

yes I have those guys(just got them in the post 3 days ago) they are GORGEOUS! I want to Templarise them, but sadly they are for the HH oath I have taken.

as stated below, if you don't like a vow, dont do it do something you want on YOUR table. I am going to add 2 more vows to give a little variety.

these last are together, yes the heads are definitely not kitbash friendly. but is doable

now brothers, I need help. I don't have the Dex yet and I would like input for the next to vows. this projects vows will always be ahead of most of us. just so people can work ahead.

 

I would like suggestions for a troop choice and an elite choice.

About your question Prime, i think you can't go wrong with a crusade for the troop choice, that has not changed. A mixed team ofInitiates and neophytes is always good (i like to paint scouts, i know, odd but true).

 

Elites..... Sternguard maybe? There are a lot of possibilities there, i'm trying to decide how to make them myself. Chopping the SB models looks like a tall order though, maybe i'll find capes somewhere. Might be my project for this Crusade now that i think about it.

Troop choice: crusader squad (neophytes optional)

Elites: *shrug* sternguard? I would say dreadnoughts but they sadly aren't the best choice right now and I don't want people swapping out our venerated fallen. (Also it might cause some problems with the Currus Belli challenge starting soon enough)
