People say the same about the Iron Warriors. And the Ultramarines. And the Imperial Fists. And the World Eaters. Ad Nauseum.

They're all opinions. It up to you what kind of character they have. Make them different. My suggestion would be to brush up on special forces from across the world, and ignore the CIA bullcrap. The SAS groups of all those who once served the crown are badasses. The Spetsnaz are scary brutal. GSG 9 make Germany's foes shake in their boots. JTF2 of Canada are world-renowned for long range brain surgery. Then, of course there is the American SOG teams, but sadly, you don't have the clearance... ;)

Make them into a story. Build them as living beings. Give them spirit and character. It's all up to you, brother.

Remember all that, "We are Legion",, and corrective surgery crap in Legion? Throw all that BS in the trash. The Alpha Legion is smarter than that.

You know the old saying "Not everyone grows up to be an astronaut"? Well, not every child is fit to be a super-secret company spook when they are reborn as Transhumans. Doesn't mean they have no use, though. The Alpha Legion is, if anything, clever with their resources.

Some will be better with a sniper rifle than silver tongued words. Some will be better with a knife than a data sniffer.

Deliberate Operations, instead of Covert Actions. Shocking, crushing attacks from the shadows, with no discernible source. Exploding ammo dumps. Nighttime Air Assaults. Wet and Void strikes. Throats taken in the dark by an astartes with bare, tattooed arms and painted face, dragging bodies into hiding places.

Vicious. Quick. Cunning. No trace, no evidence. Think less sneaky-sneaky, start thinking more violently.

In a similar vein to the suggestions provided by Heathens, and something a little closer to home, do a it of research of Z Special Group (wiki). I can imagine an AL force staging a mock attack on a 'friendly' port or similar, can't you?

A mate gave me a whole lot of Aussie/Kiwi suggestions on this sort of topic a little while back. I don't have the full list with me, but will post more when I can access it.

Speaking of Aussies, look into Aviation Regiments, for your AL's transport. No matter what, aviation is always the way to go for LRPR or Deliberate Ops.

Had the privilege to work alongside your boys in the 6th Avn Regiment back in '08 in Afghanistan. Good folks, all. Never got used to your army's uniforms, though. :P

Nothing wrong with the Aussie uniforms, mate, although I must admit they can look a bit odd next to those from other countries. ;)

Looking at the 6th Avn Regiment, they've been involved in some interesting stuff. The Wikipedia page shows one of their Blackhawks dropping off Aussie commandos, so they would indeed be appropriate inspiration for AL transport.

Oh, y'alls pattern is effective, just weird compared to my old multicams. Like mustard stains on brown paper towel, lol. On the other hand, we have those ugly ass digitals we are forced to wear back home...

And, yeah, the 6th is light movement and reconnaissance. They and my old Squadron worked well together. Kiowas are some mean airframes when used right.
