Brother-Chaplain Kage
I've been out of the game for some time, so I might just be missing something here, but in the Betrayal book, drop pods are listed as dedicated transports but only rhinos are listed in the various unit entries. Does it take a Rite of War to enable them as a transport choice? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280581-drop-pods/ Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Nope a rhino can be taken but any unit can take a drop pod Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280581-drop-pods/#findComment-3468963 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
OK. I've got 3 drop pods and I think I still have a couple of old rhinos kicking around in my closet. Oh, that brings up another question. I noticed the Land Speeder in Betrayal is the same crappy one from the 40k rules, so the shiny new speeder on FW will have its rules introduced in Massacre? Adra'Melek
It was mentioned in the FW Massacre video. As in the Javelin land speeder, so should be. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280581-drop-pods/#findComment-3468996 Share on other sites
Noserenda
You do need a specific Rite of War to take Drop Pods, at which point the whole army has to take them (Or a Flyer or other Deep Strike mayhem). The Javelins Experimental rules are currently free on the FW website, theyll be in massacre too though. And annoyingly not every unit can take a drop pod :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280581-drop-pods/#findComment-3469080 Share on other sites
Galron
Very specific. I think Abbadon also allows units to take drop pods, but its either him or the Orbital Assault rite of war. The new Night Lord RoW also allows certain units to take them as well but not the whole army and it has some major drawbacks. Adra'Melek
Well there is a general Rite for drop pods and the Night Lord one allows you to take them too. Sons of Horus can take their special drop pod. Can you not take a pod as a troop option rather than dedicated transport? No idea myself Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280581-drop-pods/#findComment-3469586 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
IIRC, since both the Rhino and drop pod is under the Dedicated Transport heading, you can't just buy one by itself. It has to purchased as a dedicated transport for a specific unit. Adra'Melek
That's what I always though originally but nice to have it confirmed. I've got an unpainted drop pod I think I'll keep for my mini night lord detachment.
