Targetlock
thanks Cypher :) and as a Metallica fan i rather like that reference, 'Harvester of Sorrow' does have a rather cool ring to it, especially for the tank. how about for straken: ' Kharagar the Pale Huntsman' and other cool suggestions, all useful because i can use them for other stuff :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280593-traitor-guard-blog/page/2/#findComment-3482076 Share on other sites
Argun
For a sorcerer (if he's ever added), you absolutely MUST name him the Master of Puppets... if staying with that Metallica naming theme... Targetlock
I have returned from the field of war, and i have returned victorious!! It was a four player game (my side i was allied with chaos against Eldar and Dark Angels Deathwing) and proceeded to turn into a bit of bloodbath thanks to the sheer amount of firepower that we were able to bring, though it did become closely fought at the end of the game over objectives. my favourite moment was when my penal legion squad killed Belial in overwatch when he charged after seeing his squad wiped out in the previous turn, my Punisher was was also awesome and fun to use chewing through a couple of squads till it was destroyed. My list: HQ> Company Command, Carapace Armour, Voxcaster, Regimental Standard, Master of Ordnance, Meltagun: 160Troops> Platoon Command, Voxcaster, Grenade Launcher: 40> Infantry Squad, Voxcaster, Grenade Launcher: 60> Infantry Squad, Voxcaster, Grenade Launcher: 60> Infantry Squad, Voxcaster, Flamer: 60> Heavy Weapon Squad, 3x Heavy Bolters: 75> Penal Legion Squad: 80> Heavy Weapon Squad, 3x Mortars: 60Heavy Support> Leman Russ Punisher: 180Elites> Stormtrooper Squad, Plasma Gun : 180> Ratling Squad: 50Total: 1005Models: 73 Plus a small squad of plague marines, a chaos lord on bike and biker squad (the biker squad and lord was a very good distraction and soaked up a lot of fire for the first two turns) I have to say i rather like using guard and they make up for the bitter disappointment that was my dark eldar army and i am now looking intoexpanding this into a proper army and aiming for the 2000pt mark and cool ideas of how to expand this force, I'm thinking more tanks and some Ogryns Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280593-traitor-guard-blog/page/2/#findComment-3493786 Share on other sites
hendrik
well personally i feel your company command squad has a weird configuartion, you're using a m.o.o. which requires you to stand still should he want to fire, yet bring a 10 pts 12" range meltagun with you? how about a mortar/autocannon/other heavy weapon here? as to expand your list, you're currently lacking some long range firepower, and antitank. there are plenty of options to solve this, you can either get some long range leman russes, or some of our brilliant artillery such as the basilisk or manticore. Personally i wouldn't bother with ogryns since their stats make them not a very competitive choice. Beachymike123
i'm glad to hear that the mortals of chaos are triumphant. i have a found a similar thing in that guard are fun to play and offer a lot more than meets the eye, although i still love my DE army but courses for horses and all that. you can expand the army in so many ways too. you can have veterans to represent those not truly attached to the proper part of the army but who's skills are highly sought after in the dark recesses of the galaxy, looted russes stolen from fresh conquests against the imperium etc. i'd agree with hendrik on a couple of points. first is the m.o.o and the short range weapon. i personally don't take a m.o.o for fluff reasons (my army doesn't have access to artillery batteries) and so my ccs can move freely as and when needed, but i always pack a grenade launcher as i find it a much better all rounder and it has a better range, and being an assault weapon just makes it even better. second i do and don't agree about the ogryns. if you're competitive, they aren't the best use of points. however, from a fluff point of view they make sense - mutants with abnormal growth and strength, shunned by human society, to whom do they turn? in chaos, all is equal save those who embrace it. i'd also say you can make use of ogryns even as bullet magnets for a turn or two if you're into that but thats not my style, and i'm fairly sure its not yours either either way its up to you how you want to develop your army. i'm looking forward to more updates myself keep up the good work chap, and may the dark gods truly bless your army. Targetlock
Thanks for the advice :) , the comments about the command squad is quite useful considering switching out the meltagun for either a heavy weapons team or a longer range weapon. stuff i'm considering for the force: > Ogryns (purely for the fluff reasons and they will be fun to try out :) ) > Rough Riders (same as with the Ogryns, good for distractions and rapid attacks.) > more tanks (but which ones? maybe a medusa?) > tech-priest (a corrupted tech-priest would be fun to do and be useful) and also the same with a priest (add some hitting power to the Ogryns) > Veterans (xenos mercenaries perhaps? :) also the amount of BS 4 firepower they can pump out is lovely) Any comments and fun suggestions while i consider my options would be great :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280593-traitor-guard-blog/page/2/#findComment-3494447 Share on other sites

RADU LYKAN
maybe a couple more lascannons, just in case you face either a load of russes or landraiders or monoliths, basically light on weapons capable of glancing/penetrating av14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280593-traitor-guard-blog/page/2/#findComment-3495867 Share on other sites
Argun
I've got 3 Medusi, and I can definitely say they're one of the ultimate artillery for trolling your opponents. S10, AP2, large blast, ordnance. VERY fun to use against terminators/thunderwolves/nob bikers/ect. Targetlock
worth sticking to normal rounds or getting the Bastion Breacher shells? but judging by the cost of the forge-world one i will look into building my own version :) a cut-down basilisk perhaps? Argun
Might wanna add a bit of wider plasticard tubing to that cut-down basilisk barrel. IMO, the BB shells aren't worth it, even though you get better range and AP. Stock shells are worth it, and you still get bonuses against vehicles and buildings. Add that in to the fact that the BB shells are a small blast, whereas the stock are large, and I'll take a normal medusa any day! Targetlock
Ah, as i thought and behold a pale horse.. A start on my rough riders, just need to make my attempt at mogul kamir (probably use a spare thunderwolf for his mount) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280593-traitor-guard-blog/page/2/#findComment-3496211 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Normal rounds for the Medusa are best I think, more general purpose while still being very mean. Wouldn't a Thunderwolf be a bit too big to count as a Rough Rider? WarriorFish
He fits on the base, so as long as he doesn't keep falling over it should be fine. Though it might be difficult getting into base contact sometimes! They look very WHFB though, so maybe a bit more 41st Millennium might be a good idea?
