Surrender_Monkey
I've avoided it for as long as I can, but got my first finecast model today, Pedro Kantor, and praise Dorn he seems to be a good cast. I've worked with Forge World resin before, and know all about giving it a wash and good scrub before priming, is finecast the same stuff? Is there anything else I should be looking out for? skawolf
Yes, you really want to wash it with dish soap and room temp water. Cut very carefully when trimming finecast models, the resin is super soft and easy to cut in to. Lucien Eilam
I wouldn't advise "scrubbing" Finecast, the detail is a bit too fragile for that and you risk scouring it away. I've never even bothered washing it. If they're using any release agent at all, it doesn't seem to be greasy like the Forge World stuff, and it takes primer really well straight out of the blister. I'd say the key things to look out for are bits of stray rubber mould caught in recesses (it's usually pink, so easy to spot) and the little "triangles" of resin they use around undercut details, which need to be cut off. nurglespuss
Yes, there's no need to wash finecast, it uses a process that requires no release agent. its deffo super soft, you can cut it with your finger nail. be careful with it, ive stopped using it myself, as my azharoth over time can no longer stand as his scrolls have been unable to support his weight and i will have to now weight his base (this took months to happen) , probably a very good idea to pin structure them.
