I know I know, not a mini... but I just have to share!!

So here is a shot of the motherload of supplies I have accumulated so far for my Sister of Battle Cosplay!!!!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/Jammy_Dodger/IMG_4846.jpg

In no particular order:

-Posterboard for stenciling
-Foam flooring mats (x3)
-a pack of craft foam
-a hot gun
-a hot knife including tips for soldering, smoothing and carving (my husband scored this for me)
-2 glue guns (large and small)
-paper clay for sculpting details like the seals
-an AWESOME corset
-its Halloween so I got a bag full of tiny skulls that will be perfect,
-also fake chain from the Halloween section
-some cheap ( but cute) boots I got in the childrens section of wal-mart (lol) because I have small feet. Since they were cheap I wont feel bad gluing foam armor all over them, plus I can cut off and use the buckles for detailing elsewhere!
-a foam ball for the breast plate
-spray primer

Yesterday we (we because it demands two people to wrap a girl in duct tape ;) ) finished up making a home made dress form and are waiting for the spray foam filling to dry. http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Will be checking on the status of that soon to see how it turned out.

So to start, I cut off the embellishments of my store bought shoes and got the templates for them all set up, so I can start cutting the boot armor pieces from foam....

Hope you are enjoying so far, more to come!!! biggrin.png

Thank you guys for the warm welcome, and wonderful responses, it is really keeping me inspired to keep going through with this massive undertaking!!! I was truly a bit worried about posting a cosplay thread on a mini wip forum =\ But I am glad to see it is being received well!!!!

First thing this morning before starting my boots was to check how the dress form turned out.... the filler foam expanded made it a bit larger than I am and did some weird things to "the girls" pretty disappointingly, like lopsided or something..... but thats ok.... I'll be making the breastplate separately anyways so it will just be being used to model the costume as it comes together smile.png

So here I present dressform....... and dressform with the first essential piece, the corset! biggrin.png (please ignore lopsided boob.)

Now.... back to the boots!

Whoever it was that said it was best to start with the shoes was INSANE! So many little parts!!!

So I have one boot down and ready for priming, I might add a few more embellishments first, but I havent decided yet.... Now there is the other to go... and boy am I dreading it!!

Wow, that was fast. Lookin' good! This is gonna be awesome.

Are you planning on doing a bolt pistol/melee weapon or a bolt gun to go with the costume?

Oh heck yes msn-wink.gif But I am saving that for last because I want to have the experience of making this whole thing under my belt so that the weapon will really shine! biggrin.png

Also realized while test walking around in the boot (s) I am going to have to separate the boot from the shin plate, as they dont move together right =\

Have you ever heard of Volpin Props? The guy, Harrison Krix, does some incredible stuff, and I don't know why I didn't mention this sooner because he's done two things that might be right up your alley for this cosplay.

Here's a blog entry where he made some shoulder pads based on a video game character that resemble the SoB fleur de lis a lot: http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/search?q=cassandra

And a bolter, which I couldn't find a blog entry for with explanations as he went, but sometimes he comments on the individual photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/volpinprops/sets/72157625021781176

Whoah.... yea Krix's methods are way more complicated than what I am doing... I should be able to reproduce very similar results with foam, worlba and paper clay. However mine won't be reproducible like his are. Mine will just have to be one of a kind, and I am fine with that msn-wink.gif

..and the bolter link, I have been following some threads over on Obscurus Crusade (a forum dedicated to WH40k cosplay, but they arent as active as the folks here).. but most of them make their bolters exactly the same way...Though I'm not sure how many use that Sintra stuff.....

smile.png But I am bbookmarking that site anyways just in case he has some tricks in there I don't see anywhere else. I havent really gotten that far into my design yet.... still trying to work out the boots and shin guards! lol
