Sister of Battle Cosplay WIP

Normally I do work at a snails pace,

Snails pace? You should check out my Lamenters WIP and check out the gap in the post dates and minimal progress represented by the photos... ermm.gif

I may just replace it with a big red cape or something... I dunno... too Super Sister? http://obscuruscrusade.com/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif

That depends on how you're doing the robes. In my mind the sectional robes with the buttons is iconic to the look, but if you're planning something more conservative then a cape might not be bad. Or you could go for a Canonness look and do the fancy cape with the big fur mantle.

The purity seals look good, I'm looking forward to seeing them with the parchments for the full effect.

though, this part may not be finished by Halloween and I may just replace it with a big red cape or something... I dunno... too Super Sister? http://obscuruscrusade.com/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif

Hell, as long as you can find a pair of freaky baby dolls with wings duck taped to their back to hold it up for you then I think you'll be fine. ;)

Those actually look very realistic, were they easy to produce?

Easy enough :)  They are made of paper clay that air dries.  Shaped them by hand and the nature of the clay makes it difficult to form a perfect circle without the edge busting up. Indented the centers with my fingers so the outer edges were raised, then took a pill bottle top and pressed it to make the circle... then flipped the bottle cap where there are little "twist to open" stuff written on it, pressed this in, turned it a bit and pressed again.... the overlapping words make a cool runic effect.  The Skulls were tiny skulls I scored at walmart in the halloween section, and the fluers are from a pendant I found at a craft store... just pressed it in for the impression :D

Painted with red acrylic, a wash of citadel imperial primer, and finished with a waterproof sealant.

TBH I'd sort of stopped updating this thread on these forums because of a bit of hostility from some "bro" about being a girl and just here for attention.........

But since there is some interest.... this is the progress as of this morning.

Made quite a bit of progress, though I didnt get to have it completed in time for Halloween :(  But its a good thing I think.... so I can spend more time focusing on the quality of the finished piece :)

So here is what I've got so far....

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/Jammy_Dodger/IMG_4893.jpg

These are the gauntlets, one is oversized and is meant to be a mini powerfist of sorts, I will be adding individual pads of foam over each segment of my fingers to bulk them up on the glove that will go with it.  Its all only primed at this point, so I still need to paint it all and do detail work, but I laid the "OBEY" thingie on there to show where I intend to place it :)

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/Jammy_Dodger/IMG_4894.jpg

These are the shoulders, Im quite pleased with how they are turning out, I intend to do a bit more shaping of the neck guard so it is more squared off and add a segment that goes around the back. Obviously there is still quite a bit of work to do to these.... ;)

A couple more shots of left and right....

Here are the boots and shin guards..... they are two separate pieces.... but the bottom of the shin guard overlaps the boots nicely I think :) Still need to do quite a bit of touching up and battle damage to the shin guards.

Here is a close up of the battle damage on the boots :)

The breastplate is looking a little sad at the moment as it sits with its third coat of wood glue to cure, then it will be ready for priming and painting. :)

I'm having a ton of fun with this!  Hope you all are enjoying watching my progress and hopefully I can inspire others the way you guys have been inspiring me!

Now i think I will go work on the little strips of fabric for my purity seals!

wow, this is incredible! you are a very talent lady. i have enjoyed this quite a bit. I am so sorry about that situatuion about the "bro" as a (i like to think) well known member of the B&C, I can honestly tell you that if he came at you with that attitude........HE IS NO BROTHER OF OURS!

So please don't let the words of one ignorant, sexist, tool of a D-bag sour you with us. I think I can honestly say that we ALL love your creative vision, and eagerly look forward to more.

i for one am a huge fan of your work and creativity. I look forward to this project's completion so you can wow us with the next!

sweat.gif isnt attention the reason we put stuff up?

if people dont give attention they cant help with constructive crit to assist in our hobby developement

Was wondering how this was progressing, and as my brother prime stated ain't no way that it's cool to do that to your project :/

Bloody ignorance is the worst thing about this hobby, it's coming along nicely by the way and it's great to see another cosplayer on here I'm hoping to do a proper imperial karskin one day just need to see more projects like this :D

Thanks for the boost of confidence guys smile.png Of course the attention for the hard work is nice... but I he was implying that the *only* reason I was getting any attention was simply because I'm a chick...... this was in a thread for my SoB miniatures btw... not this one. Up until this update I'd stopped posting my own work all together and only commented on other people's stuff. Hopefully the troll doesnt find this thread too.

ANYWAYS..... so glad this is being well received.... been working my butt off to make this a top quality piece of costuming following the inspiration of greats like Gary Sterley and Roses & Boltshells.

+1 with furioso-prime's post.  But yes, minorities will always get attention - and thankfully so.  Without our positive reinforcment and helpful attention, they would feel far beyond any desire to continue against stacked odds.  Ignore the negative trolls, they don't need any more food :)

I'm a great fan of cosplay - enjoyment of re-enactment comes in many forms.  You only have to look at the effort people put into their costumes on every level to realise they do it because they enjoy it.  Your kit is coming along very nicely.  If ever you get stuck on something (though it really doesn't look like you are), go take a look at the LARP stuff as well as people from the 501st Legion who make some great Star Wars kit.

MOAR PROGRESS!

Here is the back..... the power pack will set a little low and be designed a bit differently from the norm...  Still have to work that out. I intended to have it detachable for easy removal and I can sit! :D

Hopefully this will all make much more sense once primed and painted.

You've got the 3 striped I of the Inquisition there on the shoulder guard instead of the sunburst I of the Ecclessiarchy, would be my only bit of driticism at this point. But it's a pet peeve of mine, and certainly some players still do like to reinforce Hereticus associations, so whatever floats your boat.

I think that your work looks good so far as well.  Not to nitpick either but your fleur de lis  on the shoulder pad is upside down when compared to GW artwork.  It kind of jumped out at me when I was looking at it but it's not a deal breaker.
