Hi guys n gals,

With the release of the new codex I started to put together a new marine army. Over the years, I've had Space wolves, Chaos and Tyranids  but never a standard Codex marine chapter. So here is my attempt at a bit of background fluff. Hope you enjoy it.

Since their inception the Storm Angels have made common practice to decorating their armour with various battle honours, icons and markings, each one denoting a certain deed. In this manner an individuals armour becomes a walking resume of deeds. The scout companies and the youngest marines appear to have very plain armour in comparison the veterans of the first company. All of these icon have a cultural or spiritual significance to the Storm Angels

Some of these markings are the same as standard codex markings and honours, the rest are listed below

The Chalice: The marine has tutored a younger brother in the art of war and watched the neophyte turn into a full battle brother.

The Binding Cross: The Marine has captured a ranking enemy.

The Sword: Similar to the Marksman's Honour, the marine has proven himself to be skilled with the blade.

Face of the Primarch: The marine has attained the rank of Sergeant.

White Cross: The marine has suffered the visions that plagued Sanguinius and been strong enough to remain on active duty.

Blood Drop: The marine has shed blood whilst aiding a battle brother from another chapter. This is one of the highest honours and a source of immense pride.

Wings: The marine has served as an assault marine in his own company or the reserve company. Depending on the location of the wings, the honour has additional meaning

Wings - Legs: The marine has crushed an enemy by landing on him.

Wings - Shoulder pad: The marine has killed an enemy using un-conventional means.

Wings - Backpack: The marine has incinerated an enemy in the after burners of his jump pack.

Wings - Weapon: The marine has defeated an enemy despite being temporarily un-armed.
