"Joe Commander" with a jump pack

Recommended Posts

I've been on a "build me a generic and versatile commander" kick lately. Because I have a handful of librarians and chaplains, but no minis that could be "Joe Commander" - a Captain or a Chapter Master or whatever, no psychic powers or rabid faith, just good ol' commanding presence.

My build rules for these minis are:

- No I1 weapons (hammers, axes, powerfists) because I never run a character with an I1 weapon.

- May use exotic weapons but swords preferred

- Preferably no unholstered ranged weapons

For the Terminator Joe Commander, I used the FW Terminator Praetor, swapped his gun for a pointy finger and his head for a GK terminator helmet, he turned out quite all right.

For PA Joe Commander, I used the FW PA Praetor, swapped his head for one of the Crusader helmets from Sevrin Loth kit, gave him the "eagle head" commander backpack with an Iron Halo, and swapped his puny "archeotech" revolver for the gun I stole from the Terminator Praetor. Again, he turned out great.

Now I'd like to build a Jumppack Joe Commander. I toyed with the idea of magnetizing the PA Praetor's backpack, but he's way too grounded and static to make a convincing jumper.

I tried converting the new Lord Executioner, but even after I swapped out his arms, there's something about him I don't like. Yes, he's striding forward but... let's just say he's a bit meh, despite all the bling. So, I'm looking for ideas for a kickass PA body that would allow me to build a jumppack commander. Any ideas?

I made my 8th Company master using legs, jump pack, storm shield, and lightning claw from the new vanguard kit with bits from the company vet DA box. I don't think you can go wrong with the vanguard box and adding your own personal bits. Take care. :)

I'm going to make a character with every relic possible on the model. He'll hold a burning relic blade, have a golden storm shield with Rogal Dorn's favored iconography on it, a suit of silver adamantium artificer armor, with a mastercrafted bolter and black-toothed eviscerator on his back, with a huge banner on his backpack.

Nobody's going to have the courage to tell him he can't take the banner or that many relics. Not when he's packing that kind of heat.
