Wolf Lord Loki
Hi guys. I have a game verses sisters (amongst others) this weekend and i was wondering what to expect. Sisters are a relitively uncommon army in my area so i dont recall ever having played them. Specifically- can exorcists fire indirectly? And what blessings do the regular sister get? Eddie Orlock
can exorcists fire indirectly? Only with opponents permission. And what blessings do the regular sister get? I suspect that detailing this all in one place would violate the boards policies about not posting rules. Most units get one ability that characterises and serves to enhance their battlefield role. Repentia can strike from beyone the grave, line squads can auto-rally, stuff like this. All in all, nothing to be too afraid of. Warsmith Aznable
Regular Battle Sisters squads will be re-rolling 1s to-hit or auto-regrouping on successful Faith tests. I think it's OK to mention that because it doesn't detail the further mechanics of how the test works. The current WD list the Exorcist Launcher is just heavy d6 with no other special rules AFAIK. It may be different if someone is wanting to use the older Witchhunters codex, but I don't have that so I don't know. Fibonacci
Exorcists direct fire. If they have the organ model, you use LoS from any of the pipes. Consider it all a turret. This also means that as long as you can see any of the pipes, you can fire at the Exorcist as well. I'm going to go by the "it's out of print" and step out a little more so you know what you are up against. Each different unit with an Act of Faith works differently. Battle Sister troops can use an act of faith 3 ways. 1 - At the start of the movement phase to become fearless (auto-rally) for the rest of the phase. 2 - Shooting phase to re-roll to hit rolls of 1. 3 - Assault phase similar to shooting phase. Seraphim (the jump troops) get to reroll faith test AND reroll invulnerable saves without using faith. Their faith lets them reroll failed to wound rolls. Dominions (special weapons) make their weapons twin-linked. Retributors (heavy weapons) make their weapons rending. Repentia (eviscerator wielding bondage babes) may swing even if killed before their Initiative step. This is 1 attack for each dead Repentia only! No bonus attacks for rage or any of that. A Canoness gets +1 Initiative and preferd enemy. And the Celestine squads have their own acts too (+1 S) but I doubt you will see those on the table. All Test of Faith are passed on a 5+. The Sororitas unit can add +1 if it has 1 or more casualties, +1 it it has a Sister Superior and +1 if it is attached to 1 or more HQ units. All Acts of Faith last for the duration of the phase it is used. Any unused faith points are lost at the end of the turn so there will be no Faith Points to use during your turn. Anyway, that's the gist of it all. Yeah ... confusing as hell. This was to simplify the previous faith system that rolled over or under the unit size depending on defensive (over) or offensive (under) acts of faith that all units shared. Just ask to see his codex if you have any doubt about what the Act of Faith does. It is not a common army and the fiath system looks like suspicious play so we are used to being asked. WarriorFish
Good advice here, though the most important thing to consider has yet to be touched upon: the God-Emperor will without doubt be on the side of His faithful, which is the most important blessing of all! If you're Wolfing it up as your name suggests you'll want to make the most of your strengths and get close and personal quickly as Sisters will happily shoot you off the board otherwise. If you face up against Saint Celestine then be aware she'll cut down infantry in droves but isn't as great against armour and she has a tendency to get up again after you "kill" her - with no limit to how many times she can try and succeed! Best of luck for your games this weekend, except the one against Sisters of course Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280941-query-about-exorsists/#findComment-3475552 Share on other sites
Dread
1 = okay 2=watch out and 3=hand of the Emperor. So I would just say concede to the SoB and be judged. Kidding aside, have a great game and listen to the advice already posted here. *Furyou Miko
Yeah, but Hand of the Emperor sucks. It turns our 'elite combat unit' into something not quite equal to Assault Marines, for the price of Vanguard. WarriorFish
Things are dire indeed when you're compared to Assault Marines and found wanting... Eddie Orlock
Things are dire indeed when you're compared to Assault Marines and found wanting... I used assault marines to good effect for years, they were amongst my favorite units ever. Usually I teamed them with a powerful force multiplier like a captain with claws. My recent Raptors, well, I think they do better than my 'legionaire squads'. WarriorFish
I quite like them since they came down to more reasonable costs - even more so in the new codex. They're still just more combat focused Tacticals though.
