Grim Dog Studios
Were the current 40k rhinos and its variant (except the razorback) around during the heresy? And is it "taboo" to use them in a heresy force, I'm not much of a treadhead but I'd prefer my troops to be in rhinos rather than footslogging it is all, but I don't want to spend £15 more than is entirely necessary on a vehicle that only gets my troops from A to B. Yes, I know I am quite stingy! But I'd rather spend that extra £15 going towards another unit! depthcharge12
Its not a problem unless you are stringent on the asthetics of your army. The ones in 40k havent changed much and in the BA codex its said there are 2 or 3 relics from the horus heresy that still function. Im sure they are called phobos or tigrus pattern but it probably doesn't matter much Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3475561 Share on other sites
grand_master85
Not at all chap. And tbh, I've use the plastic ones an added the FW Legion specific doors. The pre-heresy rhino/land raider doors only fit onto the plastic rhino Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3475636 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
The patterns for both the RH1N0 and the Phobos Land Raider existed during the Great Crusade. The "Pre-Heresy" patterns are really just the same thing, only built on a different Forge World. In all honesty, there's probably dozens of different designs for the same exact thing. You see it with Power Armor, TDA, and Weapons as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3475733 Share on other sites
Grim Dog Studios
Cheers for the replies! I am tempted to make them look a little different by using the baal predator front plate bits. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3476188 Share on other sites
Rejects of Anvilus
You can always convert the plastic rhino so that it looks like the older style. The best way I have seen to do this was a member called DeSnifter, and can be found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182396-rhino-mk-2-to-rhino-mk-1/ I've used it a couple of times, and think it works brilliantly. You can either contact him and ask him for the templates, or PM me and I will send them to you. Have fun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3476200 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
You could get both styles as well and switch around the front plates and sides to make unique looking variants. Break up the monotony. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3476225 Share on other sites
Knight of the Raven
Considering Forge World sells Sons of Horus & co. doors and front plates for 'current' rhinos... I'd say that yes, these existed back then. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280953-rhino-variants/#findComment-3476280 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
yup - I think the only radically different rhino's were Thunder Rhino's which we've as yet to see any design for.
