Master of the Forge: Number of attacks?

XVI

Recommended Posts

Hello. I found that the rule for the servo-arm/servo-harness has been changed in 6th edition codex, and I am just... confused, about the total number of attacks that MotF can make. Here are some guesses of mine.

1) 2 at I4 AND 2 (2 servo-arms) at I1 <- 2 attacks because of his base A2

2) 2 at I4 OR 2(+1, two specialist weapons) at I1 <- 2 attacks because of his base A2

3) 2 at I4 OR 1(+1, two specialist weapons) at I1 <- 1 servo-arm attack, not counting base A2 in case of servo-harness attacks

While performing some google-fu I saw some guys arguing that MotF has only one servo-arm... and I got more confused, but decided to use some common sense here.

Any thoughts fellows?

With the changes, B should be correct; he attacks with the servo harness, which happens to have two servo arms, which are specialist weapons.  Thus, he makes his two attacks, plus one for the weapons, plus any other bonuses he might stumble upon (i.e. charging).

  • 1 month later...

Confusion arises from the bestiary entry under Servo Arm stating (Techmarine only) - meaning MotF does not have one (ever?)

Confusion continues when the description of Servo Harness self-describes as an upgrade to a servo-arm; it gives the bearer a "second" servo-arm attack when the MotF doesn't have a "first".

Bad writing. Clarify with opponent.

Uh no, just no. It says tech marines in the fulff description up top, no where in the actuall rules part does it says techmarine only... so yes a motf has 2 servo arms because only in the little fluff part does it say tech marine (and fluff wise a motf is a master tach marine). Using your interpation of the rules if my marines have scopes with skyifre written on them my tac marines can shoot fliers at full BS because in the fluff part for hard ot hit rule on fliers it says "zooming fliers are incredibly difficult targets for troops without sutibly calibrated weapons and scopes" well the tac marines are troops and have proper scopes.

Not sure what you're saying axa but the wargear listing for the Techmarine/Master of the Forge does say quite clearly (Techmarine Only).

Either way I think it's pretty clear that the Servo harness has two servo arms, forget what is written and just look at the model.

Im not sure what you are saying either magpie... where does it sya tech marine only, not on page 159 where the wargear list is, not on page166 where the tech marine and motf entries are, saying the motf has a servo harness and the tech marine can upgrade to it. Oh I see on page 92, lol. there saying the tech marine has the servo arm and the motf has the harness, other wise they would have to print 2 entries for each. Its simple, the motf has a harness in his wargear and in the entry it says counts as an extra servo arm, so he has 2. And look at the model of a servo harness there two servo arms...
