Inspired by Nurglings Astral Claws, needing to get some of those sweet new sternguard vets, and having a bunch of DV marines and other assorted loyalist parts lying around, I've decided to undertake a new chapter, the Carcharodons!

 

Without further delay, here's my WIP of my captain:

Not quite finished yet (apart from missing his left hand that is) I'm not sure how to finish painting his face (thinking of a gentle blue wash to the recesses)

Nice start brother, I agree adding a blue wash and maybe a little grey to the face as their flesh turns grey also the eyes turn completely black when a carcharodon's get older. Don't forget the blood :)

Looking forward to seeing more from your project here.  What are your plans for the master of relics' backpack? I see you did a swap out on that front.  (Really liking the visual of that enormous storm shield with the mk v heresy armor the master of relics has)

The new kits are just great! Really detailed and sooo many bits. I honestly don't mind the price with these kits.

The original backpack will either go on ebay or stay in my blitz box until there is suitable inspiration. I got the model because I like the mk5 armour, and he looks so mean!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the sternguard kit... it really is one of the nicest things GW have ever made. Are you going to do the swirly patterning thing on the armour?

I think he was from the old baal predator metal kit. But I could be wrong. All I know was he was sat in my bitz boz, is metal, and looks just right for my command squad

Very nice Carcharodons. They're my chapter as well, though unfortunately I possess now painting ability, so I'm getting them down via commission instead.

 

I was wondering about their grey skin - where abouts is it written that they develop grey skin? I scoured my IA10 book and I could only find references to the very palid, almost corpse-like colour to their skin, with the oldest of them having eyes that are entirely black. Or is it just something you decided to go with when you were coming up with the concept of the army?

 

Either way, I like it. It's very cool.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply, I've been away a while. To answer your questions, the flesh was done mixing grey and flesh, then washing with blue, then highlighting with grey and higher amounts of flesh/white.

 

As for why that colour of flesh, it's because they're sharks! Also I drew a lot of inspiration from this picture

Well instead of cracking on with me ETL vow I've been distracted by the sharks. So I present you with the first of 3 centurions that are going to be transported in a stormraven to drop on unsuspecting enemies.

Also anyone who's got the 3rd HH book will have read that the majority of Terran born Raven Guard were dispatched into the outer darkness as nomad predation fleets. Also has anyone noticed the forearm markings on the  XIXth Legionary?

Sweet so I wonder where the shark actually comes from :) I've always had a suspicion since forgeworld painted this http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/DefaultFW/xlarge/mkIIcommand.jpg but yeh good to have you back mate on the sharky front :D that centurion looks sweet!
