Balthamal
Howdy all I've got a fair few models that happen to have pteruges (Legion Praetor, Honour Guard etc) and was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to get them looking good painted red. I could go for a usual colour leather but red seems to be more striking against black armour. Keen to hear anyone's thoughts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281024-painting-pteruges/ Share on other sites
Brother Heinrich
If you're going for muted red leather, a good simple recipe would be red gore with a nuln oil wash. Balthamal
Sounds like a good plan. Been bugging me for ages and I want to get my marine army out of the way so a certain bunch of dark blue models can take their place on the work bench Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281024-painting-pteruges/#findComment-3477209 Share on other sites
Brother Heinrich
Nice, yeah most of my painting techniques are based on "is it simple and not labor intensive?" GrandMagnus
For a dark brown/red leather I recommend mixing Rhinox hide with Khorne Red as the basecoat. After that wash it with watered down Abbadon Black. Highlight with the first mix, adding a bit of bone colour (since red is a warm colour I dont recommend highlight with white).
