what kind of artillery thread has no artillery? None, so I fixed that. I just got 2 basilisk kits. One cheap off ebay. That needs to be stripped and fixed before paint. The other new from GW. The interesting thing about the new kit was I ordered it from GeeDub and it came as loose sprews in a plain card board box. Humm,, could this be a sign of a new artillery kit to come with the rumored new codex? Maybe.

Im going to keep the gun deck removable so I can make a heavy mortar and colossus gun to swap out as I need.

I finally finished my vets. Well atleast these ones. I started playing around with a little cotton. I like how the plasma gun smoking came out. It looks like it was just fired. I have some action shots with my mortars planned. Shound be cool.

So my LGS has a special quasi turni on tuesday. They are calling it ” Tanks-giving”. The rules are simple. Its a free event, players bring 1 tank, any tank, no point limits, FW and Superheavies allowed. The game play is ”free for all” with a point system. Winner gets a free GW tank. So I decided to bring a vanquisher with all the fixin's.

Here is my counts as Pask in a vanquisher.

And here is one with my camo net WIP.

gallery_65696_7693_65183.jpg

I'm in agreement on the camo. It's very nicely done, better than what I've got on my tanks! (even though it's a winter-scheme, yours is definitely superior!)

An idea on the net: why not try using tea bags (sans tea stuffs)?  It'd be more in-scale, and easier to manage than what I currently see on the tank.

If I was you though... why not use the Baneblade? It's sure to give others a suprise!

Thanks guys. This was my test model on the camo scheme. I figured I'd do a russ before I did my arty pieces to feel out my camo design.

Unfortunately I don't own any super heavys so I was left with land raiders, predators, vindicators, LR demolisher, LR vanquisher, basilisk or madusa. I math hammered a few likely tanks and the best I came up with was the vanquisher.

Leman russ vanquisher

with, Cmd Pask, multi meltas, lascannon, camo net, xtra armor, and a dozer blade

280pts.

If I sit in a ruin I should get a 3+ coversave and the +2 to the dmg chart, if stationary, will kill all non superheavy tanks I pen on a 4+ or strip a structure point from a SH tank also on a 4+.

We get 2pts for killing a normal tank, 1pt for immobilizing it. 5pts for killing a superheavy. -1pt for getting killed. Unlimited respawn til the game ends.

superheavies definetly destabilise the game! however, how about the following?

company command vanquisher:

14/13/10 BS4

-vanquisher cannon

-hull mounted lascannon

-multi melta side sponsons

-hunter killer missile

-extra armour

-camo netting

-coaxial heavy stubber (reroll te hit with the vanquisher cannon if the heavy stubber hits something!)

-mine plough (2D6 for dangerous terrain instead of one, test is only failed on double 1's)

-artificer hull (4 hull points total)

-armoured trackguard( 4+save against immobilised results)

total 310 pts

I played the Tanksgiving event last night and it was mayhem. 18 players on 1 6'x4' table. As to be expected the banehammer and shadowsword were ridiculously good. Damn destroyer weapons. I ran the command vanquisher as Hendrik suggested and it worked great. I parked it in some ruins and blasted away, killing 6 tanks and a shadowsword. The combined durability of Av14 and a 3+ coversave was great I never lost a single hull point though I was insta-killed once by a vlocano cannon blast that literally tapped my bumper. I got my revenge on the shadowsword next turn. I had the best kill to death ratio but I couldn't compete with the superheavies killing 2-3 tanks each turn and there were 7 superheavies on the table. All and all it was a good time but next time I think im gonna bring a shadowsword.

good to hear you had fun! i hope you knew that the command vanquisher could make an order on itself, forcing the opponent to reroll their succesfull cover save?

as I said before superheavies will always destabilise such a game. how many tanks in total were fielded and how big was the board? it really sounds like a lot of fun!

Yes! More tanks for the Omnissiah! A blue wash over the plasma coils will give the cannon a nice spruce up and I really like giving barrels a bit of a scorching. It's pretty easy too, just a few layers of Devlan Mud (or whatever the new version is called) working from furthest away in so it's darker nearer the hole then a light black dusting on the end :)

Have you thought about how you're going to magnetise it?

Hope you enjoy. I have more vets done too. Just need some pics.

My next project will be a shadowsword/stormlord.

Cool stuff, that Bassie squadron will bring ruin to your foes! I like the shortened shields too, added bonus in that they'll be easier to transport :)

Looking forward to seeing more, especially the super heavies! Makes me want to start on mine but I've got to be good and stick to my current projects and clear my decks :P

I finished building my new hexblade. Tons of magnets, but definitely worth the effort. Now on to primer and plotting out the camo pattern so it looks seemless in every configuration.

Excellent stuff! :D I'm eager to see it painted up so it can pop like it deserves!

For painting the camouflage that's going to be a bit fiddly, but it shouldn't be too hard if you paint the upper bit first with a simpler pattern (at least where it touches the bottom). That way you can just move it to the different locations and paint on matching colours for the hull :)
