There could be legends pertaining to the GotC as a Calibanite Order that became a Chapter of the Legion, or they could be a successor from just about any founding after the second....... and the great thing is, your version of the Guardians is just as valid as my version, as the Inner Circle isn't spilling the beans about the truth, and anything they actually say could just be propaganda!
