I cannot wait for the Unremembered Empire. I also cannot wait for the B&C discussions that it will surely inspire teehee.gif

I wonder if since I ordered them together, will I have to wait 8 weeks for The Unremembered Empire too? Hopefully they will ship them separately.

The last LE, Scorched Earth, I ordered with the Armegeddon to make the shipping free. Well, I got the first book right away, and the LE when it was done.

Question: If I get the e-book, Will it have all of the hardback's extra stuff like the pictures and drawings?

The enhanced e-book will. The regular e-book that will come out later, alongside the trade paperback, will not.

How does one 'pre-order' digital content? Do you leave your device plugged in so that you dont have to press 'Download' later?

I'm all for BL/GW/FW getting modern, but is there some real reason for 'pre-order' on a digital release? :p

Regardless, I'll get it likely on release.

A real legitimate reason? Not if it doesn't get sent out before the actual book.

And to be honest, I don't mind the limited editions. Some of the inside artwork is amazing. And the covers are putting up with more abuse than my paperback HH books. Eventually I'll replace all of my paperbacks with the LE hardcovers.

However, this digital serial nonsense , paying mire money than the hardcover just to get a digital edition before the release is just... Wrong.

Does it even come with the artwork?

Nope no artwork.

I feel you kol I need to focus on replacing my series too

Hmm. It'd at least be tolerable if it came with artwork but this just screams money ploy. I'm sorry. I understanding expecting to pay a premium to get it, but it shouldn't cost more than the premium version of the same media. Especially since its the basic version.

@Cormac: yes

Thanks, Kol, hadn't ever bought an e-book since they did their editions thing.

As for the serialization, I agree. Not even just because of the price, but because it affects how the book is written.

Yeah, those awesome drawings that are like middle-of-the-run Deviant Art quality...yeah, those.

I like middle of the run Deviantart quality. Feels authentic when compared to the older artwork. If I wanted Vincent Van Gogh I'd talk to Vincent Van Gogh.

Hey, after seeing Blanche's work, pretty much any other 40k art looks awesome in comparison.

Hahaha this made me howl. I cannot bear John Blanche's artwork. And I'm of a generation that venerates his work as though Moses himself delivered it. It just looks like some bad sketchings from some over-worked art student. It was a product of the 80's and it needs to stay there.

Re: the Hardback aditions, I really like them. Actually, I have never been sold on hardback books before, but the quality of these is great and as I travel a lot on public transport, the hardbacks in my bag have managed to take a lot less damage than the paperbacks.

Blanche is by far the best artist GW has ever used.

This I can accept as your opinion and I honestly envy you your ability to like his work.

He does Art, not just pictures like pretty much everyone else.

But that is just not true.

I honestly only know of Blanche because of his high status in the company and consistently terribad talents that make him stand out. I don't know who any of the other artists are.

But no, I'm not going to do a search because that'd be annoying doing it on a phone (right after I tell someone it's no excuse . . . ), but really that isn't necessary. Pick up a BL book and look at the cover. Art. Pick up. A Codex or Imperial Armour and flip through. Art everywhere. The Visions book is basically nothing but, and not just Blanche's.

Unless you're trying to make some sort of statement about what is "art" and what is "art." In which case, Blanche falls under the "not really art" bracket. He's a concept artist. If we're going to start throwing around high-minded ideals on what is really art or not, Blanche's work is not art, they are concepts.

Then I was right about the last bit and this conversation has reached my tolerance level. G'day.

Back on topic, I will probably pre-order Unremembered Empire when i get paid this Wednesday (or buy it, forgot the release date). Be nice to be part of the crowd that first gets it for a change and I am curious about where they are going with it.

I've never liked John Blanche, he's style is too messy. Most of the time it's difficult to realize what your looking to. I've always prefered Adrian Smith or Karl Kopinski by far. I won't define Blanche's work as art. But that's my opinion.

About Unremembered Empire and Tallarn. Well I'm tired of the limited time edition way, but I don't really care because they don't translate the series to my language any more (not even the novels so I've got 20 of them and I can't finish the damn collection), so I'm actually more concerned about that. But again, The Battle of Tallarn a Limited Edition novella? Okey...I thought that was an important battle and that the Limited Edition novellas were to fill the background of the heresy and add some new stuff.
