Tallarn and Unremembered Empire is up for pre order

Still no. Time Lords regenerate with each regeneration being basically a new person who retains all of the previous memories. Vulkan is more like Vandal Savage, that one guy from Star Trek the Original series, Highlander, Ramirez and the Kurgan. Effectively immortal and virtually able to survive death. Although Vulkan can survive being gutted with a forkhaving his head removed.

You really don't get it do you?

No, I do. But saying Vulkan is immortal in the same way a Time Lord is immortal is like saying an apple is an orange just because they're fruits.

*sighs* it was never meant to be an exact comparison in the first place. It was a reference to a TV Tropes joke. But the joke's ruined thanks to you.

Possibly. As each Primarchs fights(or learns about) the daemons of the warp, each one is making the decision that the Edict is wrong. And considering the Emperor was A-okay with an RG Librarian using his powers to open a vault door to the very place He used to design the Primarchs, it seems like that as long as they don't go a la "He Who Burned Down the Gate", the Emperor understands and supports the decision. Heck, even Malcador the Sigillite is it okay with the Edict going out the window. The only people who were ready to fight the Heresy were the Traitors. Besides, the way I see it, part of 30K's grimdark comes from the sheer hypocrisy of all the Protagonists. It's just a matter of finding them.

Hopkins, whatever other info and details you can provide are welcome =)

How are Curze's fighting skills depicted?

In that last part, when he attacks Vulkan, Grammaticus and Damon, does he really kick all of the three's arses?

His combat pragmatism sounds awesome.

Loved this.

Guilliman sighed.

‘Bastard. Always showing off,’ he murmured.

He looked at his aides, nodded, and began to walk down the steps to meet his brother. The Wolves followed him. Guilliman stopped and looked back up the steps.

‘Really? Right now, of all times?’ Guilliman asked Faffnr.

‘My watch-pack walks where you walk, jarl,’ said Faffnr.

‘Even my own Cataphractii aren’t following me at this moment, Wolf.’

‘We could, lord,’ Gorod growled from the platform. ‘Indeed, we could also hose the unwanted off the steps in an unbelievable storm of shot, if you so desired.’

‘Enough,’ Guilliman said. He looked at Faffnr and the Wolves.

‘You see how I spare your lives?’

‘No one spares our lives, jarl,’ Faffnr replied. ‘They’re not for sparing. Never have been.’

Guilliman hesitated, painfully aware that he was halfway down a staircase, in front of a million and a half people, pausing to converse with a band of barbarians while his noble brother waited below.

‘I appeal to your honesty, Faffnr Bludbroder,’ he said. ‘This moment isn’t about me, is it? It’s about you, and the Angels, and the feud.’

Faffnr paused.

‘It is,’ he replied, nodding. His men, hunched and ugly, nodded too.

Guilliman sighed. ‘Let’s do it then. But do not embarrass me or I’ll gut you all myself.’

He turned and resumed his walk down the steps from the platform. He was aware of the Wolves closing in behind him as a ragged and unseemly bodyguard.

‘By the void,’ Guilliman hissed at them. ‘You know you’re making me look like an idiot! Like a heathen king of Illyrium!’

‘Sorry and all that, jarl. Honour demands it,’ Faffnr replied, a hot-breath whisper at Guilliman’s shoulder.

‘You’re a pain in the arse, you know that?’ Guilliman said.

‘Indisputably,’ Faffnr returned.

This is the longest I'll post, I just thought it was awesome. I'll describe any other scenes I can find, for those unwilling to follow the link

http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/27531625/

Is anyone willing to explain to me what the whole earth thing was about, with regards to Vulkan? It kept getting brought up in Vulkan Lives I think, and then there's that other quote over on /tg/ about

interring "him in the clean soil of his home world".

Is this going to be some weird thing where he gets buried once it's all over and done with, and then resurrects to go fulfill whatever fate it was only he can fulfill that Eldrad was forseeing, or something...?

Also, my bad if it's already been mentioned and I missed it.

on vulkan

he appears to be dead

his brothers think he's dead

the salamander standing guard by the casket thinks he hears a single heartbeat, but puts it down to his imagination

if the cabal plan was for curze to kill him properly with the fulgrite, then eldrad's plan must have been to counter that

i'm sure it will all resolve itself in a future book (just as planned)

"Alright, follow me then." Guilliman states.

"You're following me!? I look like an idiot!" Guilliman hissed. Hissed.

And then there's the hot-breath whisper at the shoulder.

Those, and the arse comment, sound like classical /tg/ derpin', y'know? Are they still on the whole we hate Wolves and Ultras bandwagon?

Honestly, if it does read like what we saw in this thread, its Abnett's apology for Prospero Burns to the community that now despises anything Space Wolf.

Yes. I'll go there.

EDIT: I mean really, I would pay for them to drop this executioners/spy/brothers keeper crap right now. Its just painful. Does ANYONE want to see the SW doing this? Is this appreciated at all as a narrative hook?

Or, like we saw in Fear to Tread, would we rather they just get killed off? That cant be good story telling...

That bit honestly sounded more anti-Ultramarine than anti-Space Wolf.

Honestly, I'm not of the mindset where the Wolves in the stories bug me. Some of their fans do, but they are no more worse than the "Yeah, Wolves are dying because executioners are dumb" crowd to me. Same kind of rabid fanboyism, just opposite sides of the fence.

Let's not go back to this 'Executioner' business, it's there and it can be written the right way. I've yet to see any review that says the book would be better off without the Wolves.

Keep focused, people.

@Cormac: I agree it's not the usual Guilliman vocabulary, but it's not implausible. We've been seeing a far less strict Guilliman than what many HH fans were expecting.

It isn't that he's less strict, but that he comes off rather . . . Pre-teen-ish. I am all for Guilliman loosening up, but that is just wrong of Primarchs in general. But I honestly felt the same about the conversation at Ullanor in the Scars book, so my opinion might not be BL's.

That, and it irritates me to see him act this way with the Wolves, when he's supposed to be on good terms with Russ and his boys.

When it was Word Bearer Chaplains enforcing the Decree, nothing. Space Wolves? Uproar. It's just another incident where they are the loyal dogs, doing as the Emperor dictates regardless of how the others feel about it. If it were me, I'd be placing my irritations on who set the watchdogs on me.
