Theduke08
Hey guys what do you think about including a unit of SM bikes with either a Master or Captain with bike. My plan is to take a full bike squad with a MM attack bike and 2 Grav guns and the combat squading them. Keeping all of the specials and the attack bike seperate and then leaving 4 or 5 bikes with the captain or master. I typically run Jumper army lists so i think this would compliment my BA's well. I am also debating running a bike mounted Libby and adding him to either of the combat squads of bikers. Any Thoughts? Memento Of Prospero
The multi melta does not synergize well with the grav guns. They really dont want to shoot at the same targets most of the time. Run a lone BA attack bike or in a pair for tank hunting. Otherwise a nice unit of 5-6 bikes+kited out captain will make for a serious threat. A librarian on a bikenis something I would bring from dark angels along with a squad of ravenwing knights. Morticon
Gotta throw my 2 cents in- i think the MM has fantastic synergy with Grav. Grav is best for MCs, and heavy troopers- MM is perfect for both of those. MM is also obviously great for vehicles - and thats where the synergy is not "ideal" - but the Grav is not useless against vehicles, just not as efficient - with 2 gravs on biker unit, you're looking at 4 hits and then a decent chance of at least one 6. In cases where anti-vehicle stuff is necessary, you still wind up having a MM available. that being said, i dont know if i woudl make big squads like that. I rate 4+attack bike is plenty. The other guys just seem a bit wasted - espeeeeecially if you're not playing Khan-scars! Theduke08
Thanks for the input guys. And as far as the number of bikes i have to have a minimum of 5 for it to count as a troop choice so id be looking at at least 5 bikes plus the attack bike. Or does the attack bike count as the 5th one? And Mort I agree with the synergy for the MM attack bike and the grav guns I think they are all very capable of handling a lot of the same targets. Even if i have to target some vehicles with the grav guns they are still capable of doing some damage and if anything they will be immobilized. I think scoring grav bikers compliment jumpers quite well, and i'd definitely run a Fear BA Libby on a bike along with the Grav Bikers. I'd probably leave the Multi-Melta Attack Bikes at home though. With lots of fast moving bikes and jumpers you can use krak grendades and melta-bombs against vehicles, especially useful against vehicles that are difficult to take down with shooting such as Wave Serpents. If you feel you need some additional Melta, take it on Jumpers. Thunderfire Cannons and Stormtalons are nice too, so for a White Scars ally plug-in you can't go far wrong with Khan w/ Moondrakken. Possibly attached to a jumper unit first turn to give them scout. 2x 5 Bikes w/ 2x Gravguns, Meltabomb 1x Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer 1x Thunderfire Cannon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281059-allied-bikes/#findComment-3478944 Share on other sites

Duke, I'll double check right now, but to my knowledge the rules says the squad must have a minimum of 5 "models" - so 4+ AB seems good to go :).
