Additional Info I got from Gamesday

I can't believe people are getting upset that some of the models are being given to a wider range of players. Really, is it that bad that some of the stuff that is made for 30k is shared by 40k? Especially as the example given was utterly ambiguous with the exception of the mentioned Spartan, which was a 40k vehicle over two decades before there was even a 30k system.

 

The comments from the HH players in threads recently are actually put me off doing project logs in the HH section of this forum.

Really? You're surprised? It's not too far from whenever a new codex or edition comes out. Players hate to lose that which they feel makes their army unique.

 

Don't be put off by such comments. Forge ahead and just do what you want to do.

It's the simple case of jetbikes fell Glaives sicirus battle tanks and so on are extinct in the 41st millenium. You can't keep finding stc's to use them it's beyond a joke that this keeps happening while we're at it lets just give them storm birds.

 

40k has been set up you can't keep taking taking and taking till 30k becomes a centurion filled cess put.

 

I'm happy for variants of predators rhinos whirlwinds to be in 40k but volkites and other nasties like rad weaponry are 30k and should stay 30k

40k is the end times.

30k is the golden era of mankind as it falls

 

10000 years of stagnation and survival under strict religious culture has curved innovation replication and such.

 

Strict regulations placed by the codex astrates is the reason why this stuff should not be available.

 

That is the original setting created for 40k

Again, I agree. Why else would any of us be making an investment in the HH? Do you know how many regular 40K models we could buy instead? Heck, I could be buying a few of the Apocalypse battle company formations already.

I don't mind either system on its own, but what's next? Dare I say it? So when are Eldar, Orks, and Tyrannids coming to 30K? Aaaaarrrrgh!

The problem with the tanks that you, a few others, and I see is the slippery slope problem where they start with assimilating one thing, then it becomes full blown I want it because its cool or works better.

 

Not a whole lot of balance.

I think anyone complaining about the accessibility of these items as relics diminishing the unique identity of a given 30k faction should also direct their anger at anyone playing "counts as."  If your concern is that the unique identity of an army should be maintained, anyone playing counts as is doing a far greater disservice to that than someone who chooses to take a relic tank.  Someone playing their non Blood Angels or successor army is co-opting the entire list of the Blood Angels and robbing them of their uniqueness by subverting their stats and units toward their different Assault-Oriented Marines, for example.  That seems to be a much bigger blow to army identity than allowing some relic vehicles.

I agree on the technological decline thing. But somehow, 40k Astartes have things that don't exist in 30k. It's a very weird disconnect.

 

Some of those things make sense if they're post-heresy rediscoveries from the age of technology.

 

What bugs me is whirlwhinds. I'ts been stated in several places iirc that the whirlwhind STC data wasn't rediscovered until after the heresy (largely by way of justifying why they're loyalist-only) except now they're all up in the heresy with their own period-specific variant, the promo pictures for which have it decked out in traitor legion colours. Of course, this is entirely a 40k gripe, not a 30k one. I'm glad there are heresy-era whirlwhinds.
