Emperor's Furor

I fear that innocent threads are suffering at the hands of collateral damage too...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading 'Inferno', and am chomping at the bit to see Corax. And Dorn. And Sigismund. But those last two are a long wait, I think. Although I'm hearing things about something called Phall being around the corner?

Yes and no. As I said, 40K is all about being rock bottom. It's all about everything downsliding. Part of the Imperium's very background is that it has lost so much of what it had in 30K. Look at one of the ships from Battlefleet Gothic. The Despoiler class I believe. The design had been around since the Heresy. But the Imperium had lost all of the ones it possessed, as well as destroying the shipyard that built them. It took rediscovering the schematics at Barbarus to build three of them. All of which turned Traitor because a design flaw in the Gellar field was constantly exposing the crew to the warp.

40K is and always will be my first love. The reason I hang around the Heresy forums is for a very pure and simple reason: I don't like most of the Chaos community. I don't like people who persecute opinions. You might say that's hypocritical of me. But right now, I'm not voicing an opinion. I'm voicing background. Background suggests that a good portion of Heresy tech makes it to 40K, although the usability of such tech is questionable. However, the background is also against every single piece of Heresy tech making it to 40K, even in the Heresy Legions.

My opinion, is that the background should remain the background. But looking at the changes in the 40K fluff, I can fully understand why the more hardline individuals like Heathens have fully retreated into 30K. Where once the Black Templars abhored the Witch, now they tolerate. Calling it teletubby 40K might be harsh, but compared to say, third edition, or even just fourth and fifth edition, sixth edition is looking very..... bright. Abaddon is supposed to be at the door ready to break open the Imperium, and yet the SM codex and background make it seem... "Oh, well that's unfortunate".

I love 40K and I love Chaos. But I love the grimdark of it and as a fluff bunny, I fully acknowledge that the background must be maintained. 30K is the Age of Hypocrisy and Betrayal. 40K is the Age of Hitting Rock Bottom. 30K tech is about innovation. 40K tech is about religiously worshiping what little tech works in the hopes that it continues to work while trying to rediscover lost technology.

The thing that puts me off about B&C are the ridiculously high number of threads that are hijacked to debate what about the hobby no-one likes, or arguments revolving around 'this Legion is better because'.

What was a thread regarding Games Day has devolved into a long complaint. Can we keep it on track please, as this is the sort of thing that eventually leads to thread closures.

Disruptor - Phall was the battle following Istvaan V by the Retribution Fleet of Imperial fists sent by Dorn to investigate what happened at Istvaan and the Iron Warriors. There was an awesome Zone Mortalis display board of it at Games Day :-D also, it showcased some of the new Iron Warriors sculpted pads we will be seeing next year

Seems a bit odd for Dorn to be in the third book, since he wasn't present at Phall - neither was Sigismund, for that matter. But I'd be scoring maximum 'Idiot' points if I didn't look past that to get the minis of two of the most awesomesaucest characters out there.

Excellent. Yes, most excellent...

And I saw those pictures! I just wasn't sure what they were depicting. The assault claw buried in the side of the ship is awesome!

Yeah he made a point to state it won't just be the Phall force, they will be including everything the Imperial Fists can have.

Disruptor:

If you want, you can read about the Battle of Phall in the short story Crimson Fist in the Shadows of Treachery anthology from BL.

Sadly, Dorn adn Sigismund only get cameos in the story due to the fact they didn't participate in the battle, but if I was Forgeworld, I wouldn't let that stop me from at least getting the rules out as soon as possible so people can start playing Great Crusade era IF and even some Heresy era action.

Forgeworld seems at least as thrilled as the lot of us about pumping out all those minis and books.

And let me place a bet right now: Book Three will finally give us a melee breacher squad, which should see yellow paint sales rise like Mankind depended on it.

Not to mention Jaspcat's WE, Anaziel's Ultramarines and who knows who else. Unless it becomes Legion specific. In which case, there may or may not be an uproar.

Ah, good point. In that case, allied forces would soar.

But it does seem inevitable for melee breachers to be brought to the table, eventually. At least both the Fists, the Dark Angels and the Eaters (though they'd probably use the shield as their main weapon instead of defense) should run their boarding actions on that kind of troops.

Yep, especially since Betrayer has the World Eaters devoting a whole five companies' worth of troops just to form the Triarii to defend the Conqueror from boarding actions.

Come on shield with a chainblade built into the side.

My apologies for having a pop, Kol. I know how everyone feels and it's a sentiment I share! I just didn't want this going off track :-)

Oh, Book 3 will also be covering the Battle of Paramar, Alan said at the FW Seminar. From what I have found out, it was a battle involving the Fire Wasps Titan legion and Traitor marines vs Fire Brand Titans and 2 other Titan Legions, alongside the Loyalist Legions. Should be interesting.

Alan did confirm that Dorn and Sigismund are being covered as you can't just have Polux and the boarding guys and nothing else for the IF entry :-)

Personally, I was just happy that Massacre delivered and finally gave me some awesome Emperor's Children stuff! Word Bearers are my next Legion now, methinks :-D well, them or Night Lords. Too much choice!!

Edit: getting off track again lol

I hope we see the triiari, though idk how the hell delvarus swung around his meteor hammer inside the confines of a ship

Consider the walls became collateral damage...

When I think of the meteor hammer I always think about Kill Bill 1 with the little asian girl flinging the one around at the bride.

I usually don't judge 40K technology, but the meteor hammer seems mighty strange...

And Delvarus winning 25 or straight fights wielding a weapon which basically doesn't work if your opponent closes in with you makes him the equal of a Primarch. Maybe two, if we're talking Alpha Legion. =p

It honestly does make me a little uncomfortable that a lot of the vehicles and equipment that originally set the HH series apart from the 40K timeline / game play are finding themselves now included for all. Especially because I know a lot of people who previously shunned FW rules will start including them in their army lists.
