Logan Grimnar baseball player!

Who ever thought Logan had ancestors who played for the yankee's.

 

Had a sick game vs guard whilst using logan for the 2nd time ever. Ill keep it short and simple, but logan managed miracles this game.

 

so i had logan, in a 4 man squad of termies, another 5 man squad of termies all with combi's and 10 Gh all drop down first turn. Now this guy positioned his tanks like 8 inches from his boarder edge. ( 3 lemon russ's / 2 Bassilisks ) Now he rolled 1 on strat so he had +1 to cover saves, anbd his tnaks covered in a defnece line so 3+ save. I play with big balls!!!! i dropped behind his tanks  ( 8 inch's away from the table edge ) Luckily not one went off the table!!! close but not off!.

Any way 9 combi's 2 melta's 2 cyclones  REAR ARMOR!! DID NOTHING!!! 2 hull points thats it..... FML. Long fangs 10 missiles nothing, 2 las cannons, nothing, 2 speeders with missiles nothing. Turn 1 i did 2 hull points and 2 guard mens..

 

At this poind i thought turn 1 i was dead. So he starts his turn and turns the tanks around and battle cannons facing me 6 inch's away from my face. 40+ guards with lascannons, laucnhers, grenades, mortars, las guns, the WHOLE SHABANG! pounded those 3 drop pods. i was left with 2 GH, 2 WGTDA and logan on 2 wounds. Bassilisk pounded my Lonf fang packs.

 

Turn 2 i was shocked..... my next pods arrives, 2 more GH units both melta's and manage to move over the aegies line with the 6inch deployment from the drop pod. and logan ofc gives himself tank hunter this turn. Again i SHOOT EVERYTHING! at the russ's to do 2 hull points....  i wont talk about the rest of the army as they are crap. Declared my charge and logan turns a tank into cardboard....... however now i am in the middle of a guard army.

 

Turn 2 Guard, he really wanted to kill Logan, here comes the baseball history for logan. Before he used his battlecannons, Guard player tried morta's las gun's, heavy bolters, las cannons, 2 multi melta's orbital bombardment NOTHING!!! LOL. So he turns to his battlecannons...... LOOOL logan is 6 inch's away he shoots the cannons, Logan hears the screach in the air and moves into a batting position swings, and hits a home run back to the tank!! covers 6 guard who are maning the icarus las cannons, and takes the last hull point on the lemon russ LOL.

 

That move alone and the fact that Logan soaked all that up won the game at that point. I just moved through forces cleaving and weaving whilst my Gh or what was left of them sweeped up.

I was playing Logan this weekend as well. He was moving towards 20 Necro warriors. They shot at him and his pack. He was out front. 6 armor saves on the pack, I rolled 5 1's!! FIVE!! Logan died a lot.

 

So I really like hearing that he championed for somebody out there!!

yeah Logan is great, he is the only lord choice for me. not just a combat monster, but a good buffer as well. plus termies as troops, who could complain about that.

Space Marines playing baseball with Battle Cannon Shells, sounds like an interesting conversion to say the least. I know someone who banned his friend from ever playing something with a demolisher cannon, because it would always somehow scatter onto him when they played as allies.

Man, I miss playing with Logan! The 4 up Invuln (or maybe my dice) never did me any good with him and he some how always ended up losing all his wounds quick. I end up rolling with a Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf with: Runic Armor, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, and Saga of the Bear now mostly. He's just about as good as Logan in CC, and doesn't die as easy to most other things. As the one guy said Logan is not a Combat monster, but I'm hoping in the next codex they will make him one!

LOGAN GRIMNAR! Champion of the Imperium! Alpha of all the Packs! High King of Fenris! The guy who has single-handedly won me every game I've ever fielded him in! (Granted, it only been about five games, but still)

 

I remember in 5 ed I shoved him in a Land Raider Redeemer with 10 kitted out Grey Hunters. They barrelled straight for a Chaos Land Raider, blew it up, assaulted those inside it (Chaos BESERKERS led by Khârn), and massacred them. He hopped from Hunter pack to hunter pack, constantly charging forward and killed a significant portion of the enemy simply through giving his packs re-rolls and through his power personal Axe of Morkai. Allfather, that was a glorious game.

o boy do i have the story of all stories for grimnar. Local club had an apocalypse day. Xenos vs the imperium. The game was fairly huge with 17k points aside 34k total.

 

I am posting this here, because it was Grimnar and his wolf guard that gave the imperium victory by 1 point. 

 

Now we had a set mission pack which was very well written, with specific rules but i wont go into details. Just the story of glorious kills and acts from the WG. 

 

First of all my main concern, was this!

We had first turn, this was the set up,

As you can see in the first ppicutre logan team is oposite the big orc thing with 24 hull points..... Turn 1 i use "In Their finest hour" i get to move x3 my movement..... 18 inch, now this puts me 6 inches away from it spot on. I also dropped 10 wg PA with 10 combi melta's. The WGtda also had 5 combi melta's. 

 

First i thought no chance in hell..... am i even getting close to knocking this down! so shooting phase, combi melta's do 12 points, not bad not bad at all....... and after reading the rules for finest hour... i noticed grimnar gets double attasks!!! ( LOL)  Charge declared.......before i even got to rolling dice for my wgtda to do attacks, grimnar SOLO'd the last 12 hull points like a fricking boss!!! my god! just epic 24 hull points turn 1 1300 points gone.

 

Not only this, to the left of that, orcs had a huge group of guys in termie armor, and the lord. wwith 2 WGTDA and grimnar him self, he also managed to clear the entire lot plus the HQ. 2 wounds left..... The chaos termies had enough of this and got in range with a land raider disembarked shot me and then assaulted. lets just say..... 8 of them charged..... killed 5 before dieing!

 

Just a quick thumbs up to my TWC in my pic above. Across the table from them is a wraith seer or something like that, a character wraithlord.  My wolf lord tied that up in combat turn 1 and k illed it turn 2. THese 2 kills won us the game, in the mission pack, any super heavies or MC killed by space wolves in combat give 2 victory points each!!!.
