WarSpirit
hi guys, I was wondering if any of you 30k players have played games during the crusade era against xenos (eldar, orks, etc.) and if it works well or are the games unbalanced ? hisdudeness
The game I've played worked fine. We have yet to find anything that was just super silly and killed the game for us. GhostMalone
Lets just say orks nailed my behind but those eldar became my lil bitches Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281283-question-for-30k-players/#findComment-3482547 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Im suprised that fury of the legions wouldn't seem "broken" by your opponent. A twenty man squad at rapid fire range can pretty much obliterate any infantry your opponent brings. Even mega blobs of orks and imperial gaurd would cry Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281283-question-for-30k-players/#findComment-3482551 Share on other sites
Emperors Immortals
Ive played one game as Eldar against a SoH army, we basically just boosted guardian numbers to 40 per unit and Dire Avengers to 30 as well as allowing one free 200 point unit for myself - I chose a Storm guardian squad, which was simply obliterated by rapid fire. I think the warlock options would need to be tweaked, and the Swooping Hawks were really good. Keen to try a maxed Banshee squad actually, as Karandras cut down those monkeigh a bit to easy.... And yes, I did cry..sparkly xeno tears...;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281283-question-for-30k-players/#findComment-3482563 Share on other sites
hisdudeness
Frankly, All advantages of a 30k list are easily dealt with. Yes, Fury is scary but you pay for it in points and it's a one trick pony. Not being able to shoot next turn opens the squad up to being tar pitted pretty easy. We have had to make no points or squad size adjustments once we realized that the lists are pretty balanced vs 40k lists. Even bring a Primarch doesn't throw things off. Reasonable Commissar
Ive done some and they seem pretty balanced for the most part. There are only 1 or 2 things that do stand out compared to normal 40k armies such as the predator having 4 shots instead fo 2 for about the same price. Galron
Agreed that it is fairly balanced. Pretty outstanding for the most internally balanced army list out there. The primarchs essentially are not much more powerful than any of the powerful special characters in 40k and they cost a fair bit. That 20 man squad unless they buffed it up with expensive melta bombs or power fists would be useless once a dreadnought gets into play and I think those are far more common in 40k tan 30k(we have other toys to spend points on) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281283-question-for-30k-players/#findComment-3483255 Share on other sites
Sevatar
Vulkan, for example, would be broken. Send him against a Wraithknight. He strikes first, hits on a 3+, and kills it on a 2+. Instant Death FTW. But yeah, mostly, they aren't broken, just really specialised - good at one thing, and one thing only, to be honest. Melta armed Support Squads may pop a vehicle but are so short ranged most things will just peel away that 3+ armour save. I mean how many wraithknights can you get for Vulkan? 2 maybe 3? You can get all that ghetto rending from shurikan that would eat him up. I believe that the HH book is the most balanced book to date and has the most variety. One of the reasons its so popular and CSM players are jealous since it flushes out different legion :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281283-question-for-30k-players/#findComment-3483399 Share on other sites
Noserenda
Yeah we have played a good few games against various Xenos and Modern marines without any issues whatsoever. In fact my Nids Brutalised my buddies World Eaters including Angron :D Admitedly mostly by drowning him in Gaunts near a Tervigon :P Fury of the Legion i think is a lot better on paper than in games, ive only rarely seen it used to great effect tbh. He must have fallen happy. All those gaunts running at him to die, until he reaches he kill count limit and falls asleep. I'm jealous of all of you who have gotten in games with your legions. I haven't yet managed it. However I wouldn't mind playing a legion list with a normal 40k list (though might have to restrict lords of war to primarchs only). I wouldn't even mind about increased squad sizes. Use a double force org and swamp the marines in bodies. Let them overkill one squad so another can step up and return fire.
