If you were to expand on this list what would you add

Recommended Posts

So I'm close to starting a escalation campaign and we're starting off at 1k points, at the moment I have this in my list:

Cassian Dracos

Legion Tactical Squad - Master Crafted Power Sword, Artificer Armour

Legion Tactical Squad - Master Crafted Power Sword, Artificer Armour

Firedrakes - shields, thunder hammers

Now the issue of how slow Salamanders are was brought up in another thread, which got me thinking about how I should compensate for this, but I'm not sure how as there's so many options, what would you go for?

It depends on what Rite of War you plan to use since this is likely to have a restrictive effect.

Outside of that drop pods are always good or if you need the extra punch a land raider/storm eagle/spartan but the downside being the massive points sink for them

I think the storm eagles would give you both a good delivery system and some good anti-air ability, a spartan equally some heavy anti-tank (especially laser-destructors) and a way to have your firedrakes slam straight into combat, thus nullifying much of the enemy shooting.

Aside from transports do you think adding things to cover their advance might be worth it? Just worried if I pack everything into one formation it'll still be easy to encircle and outmaneuver. So far the armies I know that will be taking part are Word Bearers and x2 Iron Hands there might be a Night Lords player joining to.

Rapiers and Contemptor/Normal Dreads could also serve as ranged anti-tank and they both come from elites.

But you won't really benefit that much from the Rite with that list since its's only the vehicles which get the 5++ and you don't have any melta weapons to get the second effect either. So I'd probably add some of either or even both.

Dreadnoughts also benefit from the 5++, my HQ is a Dreadnought and he's a beast! :D I'm hoping the Pyroclast models will be out by the time I extend the army, so perhaps putting them in a scouting proteus may be a good way for countering fast elements?

Plus the Infernus (whether you go magna melta or flamestorm) gets the +1S for being sallies - always toasty to get S7 flamers :) and it's likely that sallies will get two dreads (one for Cassian and one Legion contemptor) at some point.

They can't have drop pods with the Salamanders trait sad.png No deep striking allowed

I really want something to cover my armies advance though since I kind of want them to walk forward like it shows them doing in the books etc.
