If you were to expand on this list what would you add

Well poop.

Maybe do bounding (leapfrogging) big blob squads or maybe boarding marines.

I forget, if boarding marines get flamers, then definitely do them.

If you aren't afraid of magna melta preds take 2 at a time since they are priority. Im just afraid to use them to not seem WAAC.

If I had my druthers, I would take either 2 of the magna meltas or a 5 man squad of plasma cannons.

I think your biggest worries are going to come in the form of rapier carriages, since thats reliably the only weapon that can take out Cassion. Meltas, chainfist, and missiles wont do much against him.

I would definitely suggest a big blob of cataphractii termies with heavy flamers, as they can lend support and assault an objective in the way you want. They capture the whole attritional movement thing.

If you are cool with it take a caestus ram (PAINT THE SATUNYNE RAM ON IT!!!!)

Do you think maybe I should get some rapiers for my supporting fire?

Nah, thats not a good counter to other rapiers.

That being said and with the understanding when I said rapiers I meant the laser destroyer ones :P the graviton cannon rapiers would be awesome in your force!!

Think about it...

1.) It gives suppressing fire and holds squads in place while your sallies move up

2.) Due to the artifice of the Sallies they would have graviton cannons at their disposal due to constant maintenance! Fluffffffy!!!

Hey was just thinking,

how bout a land raider achilles for your bromanders?

Its equipped with multi meltas and the special armor could be "forged by vulkan himself" just like cassion's iron dragon armor.

Just an idea.

oh and you can throw a 5 or 6 man tactical support squad with flamers in there to hop out and torch and capture and objective as the achilles trundles up :D

I don't think Salamanders can use phospex, stuff like that and destroyer squads are not allowed I think. Not got book to hand atm, so can't confirm it. I'm altering my 1k list, I'm replacing the dreadnought with a praetor and a rapier with a graviton cannon. I figured it was to op for the start of a campaign done between friends.

I think you should ultimately use the dreadnought eventually since he is such a tank.

I admit that I was frantically doing practicals and theoreticals with my army list to see how I could counter that if it showed up haha :D

Doesn't he and all other sallie tanks get a 5+ against flamers, meltas, and volkites?

I was about to put some meltas in my list but it seems a lot of people roll with armored ceramite and then the sallies show up haha

The only way my 2000 point list could counter that guy would be trying to glance it to death with my 5 man missile squad, a lucky couple glances from my MoS ordanance barrage, or my Spartan's quad lascannons could only destroy it.

My chainfist does nothing, I would never throw a powerfist against him.....just wow. That 14 av front facing is giagantic and the ablity to ignore meltas, melta bombs, and chainfists is rediculous. I dont know if it extends to graviton weapons too.....

I will add him eventually definitely, even if he doesn't have his own model I'll convert Brayarth Ashmantle for him. Just at 1k he was well OP as I doubt a HH force would have enough fire power to bring him down. He also gives 5+ feel no pain save to those within 3" if he's the warlord.

Yeah they get 5+ invulnerable to plasma, volkite, melta, flamer, eveything but missile launchers and lascannons get a save.

I think I wanna keep the force pretty fluffy, so things that burn and things that don't cause massive explosions since Salamanders like to minimize additional damage, I'll eventually add a Glaive though :D

Hmm yeah but they are an elite choice, atm if I go with the rapier and the firedrakes, I'll have have one elite slot open, so it would be either dreadnoughts or apothecaries. If I take the Salamanders Rite of War I can have pyroclasts as troops so that's ok at least. If I get a terminator praetor (already have a normal one though) I could move the firedrakes to HQ bodyguard.

May have to reconsider the graviton cannon I guess, since it takes up a key slot and despite it being cool and fluff there's other cool and fluffy things I'd rather add than it and I have my heavy slot choices totally free to use.

The FOC for Heresey lists 4 slots for Elites so you should be ok there. Really like the idea of the list, will have to see how it goes.

I love my Sallies podding in and burning everything (who else could put 34 flamer shots down in 1 turn?) made me really sad to see the right of war was no deepstriking so dont know if i would take it sadly.

In the HH, when making your lists:

IF YOU ARENT FILLING UP ALL YOUR ELITE SLOTS YOU ARENT DOING IT RIGHT!!!!!

NOW BRING ME THEIR LEADER'S SKULL! :)

Rapier batteries can be brutal - even more so when manned by Legionnaires - BS4 Graviton is very very good :D

Yah, take three of those puppies to MAXIMIZE UHLTIMATE PENETRATION!!!!

jokes aside have you considered a land raider achilles once you pass the 1000pt bench mark? They are incredible tough to destroy.

Oh and how about the extra goodies Sallies can take? did you notice that you can switch out a plasma pistol with an infernus pistol? I think you can also take grav guns in tac squads

Yeah, don't think we can have grav guns in tac squads though unless I'm missing something. I did notice the infernus pistols though but I don't think you can buy them easily. On the issue of land raiders, I know they are good but I'm apprehensive on using them since I already got one with my normal marine force and I kind of want to go for things you can't get in 40k more since it's kind of the hallmark of the period.
