World Eater quote

This is a quote by my home-made Khorne Lord, Crull.  I may use it as the opening to a short story, but I don't really know yet.

Read and tell me what you think! Please!

Ta muchly!

“You would ask why I forsook my Primarch and deserted my Legion.  I did neither.

“A Primarch is a father to those under his command, a being for whom one would throw himself into the bowels of Hell itself should he will it.  Angron is not such a being.  A Primarch does not will his Legion to mutilate its soul, nor casts his sons aside in favour of broken memories.  To this end, I have no Primarch.

“Why did I desert my Legion?  I did not.  My Legion is dead, its soul perverted by insanity’s touch long before the madness of Skalathrax.  It died the day the Emperor presented us with our long-awaited gene-sire: the day we ceased to be the War Hounds, and became the Eaters of Worlds.”

He did have the Nails implanted, and his main goal is to try and get rid of them by becoming a Daemon Prince.

It's set post-Heresy, so he's a fairly devoted Khorne Lord, but I wanted to show the World Eaters that doesn't involve bloodshed and the classic "KILL! MAIM! BURN!" in every scene.  I believe the World Eaters are arguably one of the most tragic Legions, and there's a lot of unexplored storylines and ideas associated with them  With this in mind, my future goal is to write a short story that gives a World Eater and his warband a character beyond "KILL! MAIM! BURN!"

He became dedicated to bloodshed through his ambition to remove the Nails by becoming a Daemon Prince.  He saw Angron's Nails removed as a result of becoming a Daemon Prince, so basically set out on the same path.  To do this, he's slaughtered world after world with the hope that Khorne will grant him daemonhood, thereby giving him freedom from insanity.  The question is whether he truly wants Daemonhood and to lead a life of eternal slaughter, or whether he'll decide that enfact it's death he craves - an ultimate freedom, so to speak.  I'm hoping to write a short story about some of his exploits.

Yeah, there already is a Crull, but I take it not to be canon and I thought it was a fairly good starting point for a character (plus I liked the name).

What are your thoughts?  Does he sound an interesting character?

Cheers guys!

Sounds like he's certainly a good starting point for development! I like the idea that you have more intelligent World Eaters that fully realise what has happened to them and when instead of mindless fools. Someone with a stronger reason for bloodshed than just the usual glutting of murder-lust.
