Mechanicus 'tyranid' Army

So what do people think of a mechanicus army based around the current nid dex. the whole idea for synapse is the control radius to the 'servitor' or lower level mechanicus troops and that the instinctive activity is there basic doctrines kicking in if they are detached from the command structure.

 

so far i have created a list of tyranid units and what they represent as part of a mechanicus force.

Tyranid prime - Magos

Swarmlord/tyrant - skitarii heavy command unit

warriors - weapon servitors/ pretorians 

termagaunts - skitarii

hormagaunts - combat skitarii

gargoyals - jump pack troops

ravaners - combat servitors / data daemons

shrikes - mobile gun teams

carnafexs  - heavy mechs, small dreads

tervigons - skitarii teleports/ transports

deathleapers - STC hunters 

trygons / morlocs - combat mechs

spores - drop pods

zoanthropes - techpriests testing ancient weapons (LD tests to show the risk of the weapons malfunctioning)

veanom thropes - techpriests with distortion tech or weak energy shields

terrofex - heavy gun servitors / seige weapons

genestealers - infiltration combat skitarii

 

So what are eveyone's thoughts?

well ive got the beginning of my arch magos in the post and im basing her around this figure

imagine replacing the gun with a staff/ axe. and a lot of mechadendrites from her waste, hair and spine. im temped to try to and create a projected hexametrical shield similar to the buble shield from halo smile.png

so far while scouting the 7 plains of the web for base models and 90 percent of my models will not be GW so this wont be a tournament army sad.png but hopefully the final product will compensate for that.

so far the models i plan to use for termagaunts are the corparation miniatures from mantic

and for my hormagaunts i plan on using the new witch elves to create 'cyber arco flagerents' as flagerents can be used by the mechanicus such as in the arch mechanicus in Priests of Mars and Lord of Mars.

imagine them with 'mech dreadlocks and pacifier masks' and maybe some cogs from old watches for insignias

its a cool idea I was considering orks as a alternate to my guard based list purely for cybernetica (killer can squads) but carnifexs would work

 

im waiting till I see the new thrall bits forge world are gona bring out thou ,I got say its a good time to be add mech and that magos figure is very nice
