Firepower
So, bit of a simple question- For those of you that use palettes, or airbrushes, how do you go about transferring paint from the GW bottles? I've tried knives, brushes, toothpicks, cotton swabs (bad idea, that) and I have still not found a way to transfer paint from these awful little bell-pots to another spot that didn't waist a bunch of it. I've a mind to just dump my important paints into dropper bottles, but I don't know of a way to do that effectively either :teehee: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281432-transferring-paint/ Share on other sites
skawolf
A syringe. Like the kind that is given with children's cough medicine. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281432-transferring-paint/#findComment-3486100 Share on other sites
hisdudeness
I believe Vallejo has empty drop bottles, at least did at one time. I've been using those for any paints (GW and PP) that do not come in drop bottles. JeffTibbetts
What Skawolf said. I went to a Target pharmacy and asked them for one. Best. Tool. Ever for the task. Super easy to mix ratios. For getting it into the cup on the airbrush I will usually use a little plastic pipette. Been looking for real glass ones but I cant' find any. Mostwanted
Type in 'Glass Dropper' into a well known auction website and there should be lots on there. I've just brought 3 10ml ones for £3.69p and free postage. JeffTibbetts
I hate ordering stuff like that online. It's so cheap I'd much rather just go pick it up somewhere. That being said, I haven't found it so maybe I should Prime it... Yeah the fact that they have the mL pre-measured out on the side of the tube is awesome. A quick rinse with water gets them clean as well. One of my most indispensable painting tools. (you know, aside from paints and brushes :D ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281432-transferring-paint/#findComment-3488557 Share on other sites
Ironwulf
When I transferred most of my GW paint to dropper bottles, I used a fairly large-sized old brush (a beat-up, old Loew-Cornell #4) as a scoop and transfer instrument… After pouring MOST of the paint directly into the bottle from the GW pot, use the brush to get more out of the pot. Load up the brush, wipe it on the inside edge of the bottle. Repeat as necessary. It lets you get those last drops of paint that are usable. JeffTibbetts
Do you think they make tiny little spatulas? How cute would that be? I mean useful... How USEFUL would that be? *cough* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281432-transferring-paint/#findComment-3490708 Share on other sites
