Crimson Sons of the VIII legion

The Crimsons Sons were a formation developed from the remnants of the Legion's 9th Company during the Unification Wars. That formation had seen near total destruction during the pacification of the wastelands of Oxitania, ruled by King Gotha. The Emperor offered the King Rogue Trader status instead of execution. They retained a degree of the early legions heraldry and fought as a coherant unit alongside the Rogue Trader before returning to the legion's fold. Their status is currently unknown but it's possible they were slain during the battles that followed the drop site massacre.

So, are they Terrans...like noble (kind of) Night Lords?

@WoT - After reading through the Crimson Sons' fluff, does it seem like they are a precursor to the Bleeding Eyes Raptor cult? The imagery sounds pretty spot on. Plus it might explain what happened to them after the Dropsite Massacre.

@AfroCampbell: One thing to remember, It seems contrary to popular belief but the Nightlords did actually under go a small color scheme change post heresy. The "uniform" didn't incorporate brass/bronze/gold until they fled into the Eye. The trim and shoulder pads were actually matte black before then. Much more suited to a pseudo-stealthy shock assault legion.

But from looking over it now, it seems the Nightlords are just as likely to have small company or squad wide changes to the color scheme to denote status, a "clan" or personal honors and victories. IE the Crimson Sons. That single shoulder pad and the bleeding eyes are their "thing." Its what makes them a Crimson Son.

Go experiment some. As long as it ends up Midnight clad, you can't go wrong ^_^
