Demus Ragnok
I am ever so slowly fluffing out my Sons of Creightos chapter. One of the characters that my mind keeps coming back to is this guy. The Iron FatherThe Iron Father is the title given to the high chaplain of the Sons of Creightos chapter astartes. Upon taking the title it is the only name by which he is then known, his previous name then forgotten, stricken from record and remembrance. The title born during the chapters darkest time. In a bitter war to liberate their home world from an invasion by forces of the dark mechanicus and chaos marines the Sons of Creightos commanders came to understand that traitors among their own brotherhood had enabled the invasion. One of the chapters remaining chaplains took upon himself the rooting out of the remaining traitors and putting them to the sword. With the chapter home world secure and the faithless purged the chaplain led the chapter on a long and brutal campaign of redemption to "temper their hearts and forge anew their faith". When the remnant of the chapter returned from the campaign it was as a chapter born anew, with fury unyielding and faith as iron. The man at their head was a chaplain, then known as the Father of Iron, redeemer of the faithful, lord of chaplains and the master of sanctity. From those dark days on the man at the head of the chapter cult has given up his name and been called only by the title "Iron Father". I have always pictured The Iron Father in a suit of artificer terminator armor and carrying an axe. Not an axe like the Axe Mechanicus but like an executioners axe. So please tell me what you all think. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281451-a-character-for-my-sons-of-creightos/ Share on other sites
JeffTibbetts
I think it's pretty boss. If an axe I think you should say he rounded up the traitors and executed them in front of the assembled chapter. The axe they carry has got to be the same one. If you stick to him going around and killing them, I think the weapon should suit that. Maybe a power sword (relic blade or burning blade rules?) or some such instead. I like the idea of a public execution with a massive, two-handed axe. Demus Ragnok
Yeah giant two handed ax was I had in mind. To suit his role as executioner. JeffTibbetts
Yeah, I got that. I was talking more about him rounding up the traitors for a mass execution instead of him going around and putting the them to the sword. I know it's a figure of speech but I got the impression he was going around and scouring the chapter, one dude at a time. Demus Ragnok
Oh yes for sure a mass execution for everyone to see. Both the chapter and the people of the home world fet to watch. JeffTibbetts
Would any chapter really want the general population to know that there were EVER any traitors in their ranks? I think they would be more cautious than that. Most chapters that have ever harbored traitors keep it a secret to outsiders, no? Demus Ragnok
Well, the general population may not know that there were traitors among the chapter. Buuuut, there are also traitors within the PDF command and the planetary government which the chapter also deal with...publicly. Astartes chapters hold regency over their home worlds so the chapter "cleansing" the planetary government seems reasonable to me.
