Vile Siren
Hey there I am not sure if this is the right area to post this but army painter alien purple spray, does it cover over forgeworld minis well? Like is it smooth? Does it not peel off? Does it work as a primer? Any info from people that have used it would be great! Thanks for reading!! Kaedes Nex
It covers FW well so long as you wash it. Even a not too thorough wash will have paint apply though the hold will not be too great. For best results wash thoroughly. Sweating or unwashed FW resin will have the primer not stick. It is not smooth, it is very fine and grainy with tiny teeth and feels rough. If the can is nearly empty it will be VERY rough but not so much as to like you ruined the model. Just very sandpapery to the touch. It's unfortunate because this means the bottom 15% of the spraycan usually goes to waste. The_Chaplain
The thing with forgeworld resin (and any kind of resin really) is it has a tendency to have a very thin film that feels almost oily. Giving the part a wash in soapy water for a few minutes will help reduce that film, and make paint easier to adhere to the surface. That said, best of luck with your army painter spray, I personally love that paint line and use them for undercoating/priming whenever I wind up painting something. Larkyn
I use the Daemonic Yellow for my Heresy-era Imperial Fists, and I have to say that I love it. I find that unlike other primers, you really have to give it a heavy coat, although this might just be because yellow has less pigment than other colors. Jakbal
I had such a terrible time with The Army Painter's spray, that I quit using it with 2 full cans remaining. It is not a smooth cover for me, it is very grainy. I tried everything to improve my methods, but I never got a result that I was remotely happy with. I use The Army Painter paints and tones (washes) for everything except priming.
