Legion recruitment areas on Terra.

It is my understanding that many of the Legions – before they left Terra – were recruited from specific regions. The Dusk Raiders were drawn from the Clans of Old Albia as an example.

I was hoping to put together a list of locations where each Legion was recruited from (if a specific place) and to correlate that region to a region on Earth e.g. the Great Crusade/Heresy Era Imperial Fists have a lot of Germanic names so I assume that a lot of their first founding members were recruited from the equivalent area of Terra.

I’ve actually never seen a map of Terra, if there is one and most of my knowledge is from 2^nd Edition fluff (when I last played) and Horus Heresy Novels so I need a lot of input, if people are willing.

A lot of White Scars were from the Asian area, the Night Lords were taken from an underground penal colony. Salamanders, Alpha Legion and Space Wolves details were restricted according to the Salamanders article in Massacre.

According to Betrayer, Albia gave recruits to the Dusk Raiders, X and VIII Legions, but it was primarily a recruiting ground of the Raiders. So in turn, the VIII Legion primarily drew recruits from the underground penal colonies, but also from Old Albia.

 

War Hounds, I don't recall the War Hounds having a mentioned specific area. Khârn is beloved to have come from the Ural Mountains based on his accent in Butcher's Nails and Champion of Khorne as well as the bit in Betrayer where he remembers growing up on a mountainside.

According to Betrayal, the War Hounds didn't recruit from a specific place, but they might have recruited from a specific mindset of recruits that had been psychologically screened.

Astelan of the First Legion was born in the Sibran steppes (assume this is a contraction of Siberian steppes)

The Xth legion (Iron Hands) were also originally recruited from Old Albia, plus the Qavitine Plate cities, and Solus Stellax.

Now wouldn't we all be very surprised if Inferno confirmed that many of the Terran recruits to the VI Legion were Nordik ;)
