[TA]Typher
Hi guys, over that last two weeks with the help of my two step-sons I've been working on my gaming board. I'm not a carpenter and I'm actually suprized I still have 11 fingers (we have 11 right?). Anyway I've been learning as I go. We've also been cranking out some terrain. My original thought was to have a couple of different series of themed terrain, so we stated with rocks and have worked up to ruins. Hopefully, if we're not burnt out we'll get to Ork forts (which Noah plays) and huts and later Chaos inspired themes (which Ian plays). Of course as a solid DA player... I'm going to try to sell both boys into slavery before then. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4264_zpsf597a933.jpg We have a sand transition into dirt theme here, with speckles of grass. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4266_zpse0bbbbc9.jpg Never mind the heaping pile of terrain and supplies. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4263_zpsbca48922.jpg We plan on adding some grassy frock around the formations. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4265_zps0ccea6fb.jpg Our Mechanicum Building. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4269_zps2376bb0d.jpg The start of our Meteor. Master Ciaphas
Looks good! I fully support all terrain projects - especially if it draws in the next generation of players... elphilo
I'm sorry for your loss of your step sons. I'm sure purging them will be extremely hard :( But seriously, the board looks great! march10k
That is awesome!!! I look forward to ending my nomadic lifestyle in...8 years and being able to set up a gaming room. My most ambitious project will be a table of imperial guard defenses for all and sundry to assault. facmanpob
Oh man, I really need to sort out my terrain..... well done on setting aside the time to sort out a proper table, it really adds to the immersion! And good job on getting the boys involved too, my kids are too young yet.... but their time will come.... muahahahahahahaaaaa!!!! (now just have to get them into 40k over the next few years without the wife spotting!) Anyway, I love the themed terrain you've got planned! SeBM
Great work! I really like the theme you gave to your table, it looks very good! I built myself a table and initially planned on painting it all but it don't like having the board so heavily textured with sand (I also play WHFB where movement trays are moved on the table). I'm just going to glue a Citadel Gaming Mat on my table and be done with it. Now, your terrain has really inspired me to try and do some myself! Hopefully you keep updating this thread with new pictures! Nice setup with the terrain settings. Love the Ork tikis! I'll be stealing that one. Oh, and slavery can be too bothersome. Try good old fashioned mind wiping. All you need are a good set of DA indoctrination tapes and you'll be all set. For the Lion! [TA]Typher
Nice Belial Conversion! I like the sword and shield look. I made the sword look over sized, but not too big. He shield arm is magnetic that way i can swap it for a SB arm. I always likes the sword and shield look and wish GW would have followed suit, making big claymore for the DWKs and Belail Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281598-my-new-table-update-1011/#findComment-3489846 Share on other sites

[TA]Typher
I finished most of the terrain... http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4285_zpseebcb49a.jpg Hopefully my moss doesn't look bad. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4286_zps6c03bfe6.jpg I can't look at these guys without hearing "Orks orks, orks orks orks orks" from the Relic 40k computer games. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4275_zpsd4268858.jpg We had our first game on it. It was 2500 pts of Deathwing vs 1250 pts of Orks and 1250 of Chaos marines. I don't take these kid games serious but they are fun. The rhinos on the left are "Trukks" filled with orks. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4287_zpsc30221e1.jpg I tossed some models on it.. I always wanted to do one of those epic landscapes that you always see in the codexes, where the terrain was just packed with models. This isn't as good as that, but it's perfect fore me. I have more guys than this, but most of them are in various stages of (unending) painting. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4297_zps92c55472.jpg Ugh.. my phone sucks for pix. My techmarine that I never seem to use. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4298_zpsa25aa85a.jpg If you don't love Deathwing I really thing you have no soul... yes I'm calling you a robot. Beep.. boop boop beep. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4300_zps78dca50e.jpg Belial and his proxy hammer! I really think a hulking claymore would have looked awesome on him instead of any of the things in his loadout. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4302_zps2c98e745.jpg http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4294_zps33613ace.jpg My proxy Azrael and a horde of Vets/Command squad guys. http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z389/typher/BatRep/IMG_4299_zps78706ca0.jpg The Ancient Brother Nathanial. Anyway guys that is the end of my slideshow/Table porn... I know my painting is as good as some, but hopefully I've supplied you with a moment or two of entertainment. P.S. I was really bored today. Can you tell? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281598-my-new-table-update-1011/#findComment-3493047 Share on other sites
march10k
The moss looks great on the terrain pieces...but it looks out of place on the color of the table. What I mean is that the green of the moss clashes with the green of the scattered vegetation on the table itself. march10k
That would probably satisfy my picky eye, lol. It just looks like the terrain pieces were designed for a different table, and are just being used with a mis-matched table....which actually happens all the time at game shops, so it's not that horrible. But if you have one table at your house, it would be much nicer if the terrain and the table top look like a matching set.
