mactire
Just a little update, put some colour on the dread and hope to have a bit more done to the scouts by weekend not sure about the knife just yet but when its painted it may look better. MaveriK
I wonder what the dread would look like if you gave it one of the sw helmed heads instead. But I agree with the knife, doesn't look good. Also is that another shield on its shoulder? If it is and you have another shield on the same front plate.... Doesn't look right to me. No balance and symmetry! Looking forward to your wolf scouts, they look pretty cool. So far so good. Keep up the good work! Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Maybe one of the round TWC shields would look better?? And I agree with Mav, a helmeted head on the dread is more...accurate. But then again, it's your army, you know the rest. ;) Â Did your Missile Launcher scout suffer a serious abdomen wound?? He looks like he's in two pieces!! Â End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281627-back-to-work/#findComment-3501229 Share on other sites
mactire
Cheers guys, yeah thats a TDA shield on the CC shoulder (dont have any TWC ). What would you recommend Mav opposite chest plate where the knife is or shields on both with none on shoulders ? Everything is blu tacked so I can switch around as i go but would really appreciate the feedback thanks. Also R_P_R the blu-tack is the reason the scout looks odd, I paint everything then assemble, Im a bit OCD that way . The marine is going to be enclosed in a full sarcophagus I just felt after all his valour for the legion it was the least I could do. MaveriK
Mmm the shoulder shield seems unnecessary in my opinion. I also worry about the balancing, if you put the shoulder shield in place of where the knife is now, only because the shields altogether do not match in size and in general. I do wonder what it would look if you added one of the two sw belt bits on the sarcophagus. Keep us updated wolf brother! Thunderhawk3015
I'd suggest ditching the TDA shield in its entirety and maybe use one of the SW pack back banner pieces in its place. Looks like a good start, can't wait to see the finished product. mactire
Here are a couple of things i messed wth, Think i will go with this for torso and this on CC arm Some other ideas Open to suggestions guys so feel free to give opinions The grey on the dreadnought, you doing that by hand or air brush? Hope its clearer in this pic,its the new FANG base colour, and its hand painted (actually looks smoother in the pics than in reality, who knew ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281627-back-to-work/#findComment-3502688 Share on other sites
Urauloth
The first shield is the best fit imo. The icons are a big improvement over the knife. Â To be honest, though, having an unhelmeted head on a dreadnought looks... odd, to say the least. mactire
Yeah i know Ghost, but hes going to fully in closed in the sarcophagus so he wont be seen, i do the same with all my vehicles paint all control panels, seats door controls, etc. as i said in a previous post a little OCD on my part, but hey it keeps me sane . mactire
Thanks Mav but i think im going to go with the smaller shield, the TDA one just looks too big when its on the model. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Thanks Mav but i think im going to go with the smaller shield, the TDA one just looks too big when its on the model. Agreed. Â The 'cloth' banner on the shoulder is officially being stolen by me from you right now. ;) Â The scouts look much better when not in two piece's!! hendrik
how about making the sarcophagus with some clear plastic in it so you can still see a glimpse of the encased space wolf? personally i think both shields are too big and you don't need a shield there anyway. sometimes less is more Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281627-back-to-work/#findComment-3509235 Share on other sites
mactire
Sounds like a cool idea hendrick, sadly the skills are lacking, also the first shield sits a bit better than i've shown on the pic so hopefully it will look ok when finished. R_P_R feel free to steal all you want, this site gives me so many ideas and tips i'd be lost without it. Anyway the dread is nearly finished,i almost forgot about the base, so while i was messing around with that i decided to assemble 5 skyclaws to finish off their 10 man pack. I mixed in some off the new van-vets bits along with the usual SW and assault squad bits. Here are a few pics and as always any c&c welcome 5 man pack with jump packs Here are a few close ups, couple of the pics came out bad, but hopefully you can make them out. hendrik
the clear canopy job can be as easy as to cut away a section of the sarcophagus shield and insert some clear plastic from a blisterpack. never say you skills are lacking whelp! you're one of the 6th legion, a space wolf and as such you will never ever be anywhere near "lacking" anything, besides maybe a full stein of ale! now challenge yourself and give it a try if you like the idea! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281627-back-to-work/#findComment-3511306 Share on other sites

mactire
Dread finished at last Here he is as he goes through the last stage of internment Hendrick - I thought about your idea at this stage but it just didnt seem right? The marine just looked to "healthy" for what i imagine he have to be like to be interred, I really only painted him because i'm anal/obsessed about things like that. Big thanks to Thunderhawk for this one, i really feel it goes brilliantly with model . Also the scout camo is one i came across somewhere a while ago, it consists of painting a white triangularish (not a word) shape and then 3 black dots/blobs in a kind of opposite angle, if you get what i mean, i think it would also work with dark blue/light blue combo IIRC. Anyway here he is with the original of the species, my 11th ever model after a pack of the old bloodclaws.
