Sparika
I was just thinking that there are two types of priests in a BA successor chapter. One group being sanguinary priests and the other being chaplains. But since sanguinary priests rule indoctrination, cult of sacrifice and of Sanguinius (and of Blood :D). What is the purpose of chaplains for the Blood Angels? Could you see only one group of priests? Something like a chaplain painted in red or white, wearing a reductor and a crozius-grail. :)
Memento Of Prospero
While that idea sounds good from a purely gaming standpiont, but their functions are very different in fluff. Chaplains look to the spiritual wellbeing of the chapter. Detection of black rage or daemonic influence for example.
Calnus
Sanguinary priests are basically doctors who "believe" or "preach" their medicine. Like spirit healers on TV, except Sanguinary Priests actually do real things (in the make-believe background of 40K). Chaplains are preachers. Like your local pastor, they don't claim to do any more for you physically than smite the enemies of the God-Emperor. Well, I assume your pastor doesn't smite xenos scum, but you never know. So they are both "priests" in that they follow a religion, and act as its champions in the real world, but only the Chaplain is what we would relate to as a pastor, rabbi, abbot, etc. --Also, Sanguinary Priests are specific to the cults of the Blood Angels. Chaplains are Imperium-wide, with some tolerances for the chapters they are raised from and attached to.
