Da Taz
What is everyone's view point on the standard squad armorment? I run my squads with a vet. sister sup. combi-bolter/flamer and power maul (god I'm liking the new power maul!) along with a meltagun (for taking out tanks and such) and a heavy flamer (for all of those 4+ save/cover save targets) (I mean other armies)! I put ten sisters in each squad so I can take a Rhino or Repressor (which I prefer by a long shot! Nothing says Hi more then a storm bolter, Heavy flamer, extra armour and six firing points! Love them!) if I have the extra points. I can move and shot everything and still deal with most anything! So Your views? Dread
Well, it's hard to say. I like the 2 melts guns with a fairly stripped down vet in rhinos. Mostly because it works fairly well each time. But now we wait and see what the new dex will bring. Faith may change, we know units can be taken in 5's now so immo's will be very doable now and who knows right now. Also the way you're running yours is a great set up and can work against other armies fairly well and some not so much. This is a finesse type army that it is just really fun to play. Fairly easy rules and weaponry, not having to run to the book every 5 seconds. Enjoy and welcome to the forums. *Furyou Miko
Taz, the Repressor got updated on FW's website. It only has 2 fire points now, but FAV13... and a 75 point tag. I specialise my squads. I usually run my standard Battle Sisters with either a Heavy Bolter and naught else, or two flamers. Heavy Flamers are too expensive to really take, given the proliferation of power armoured armies, and if you multi-task your squads, there'll always be one model in the squad not doing their job. Much better to specialise the squad and put that squad where you want it. Naminé
At 2000 points: 1 squad in a Rhino with 2x meltaguns and combi-melta, 1 squad with 2 flamers and combi-flamer in a Rhino. Both Rhinos have dozer blades. 1 squad of 10x battle sisters, no upgrades. At 1500 I tend take the Melta squad as above and a deathstar of 20. Fibonacci
The updated rules for Repressors are here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/r/RepressorFAQversion1P.pdf I also keep my units specialized with either 2 flamers or 2 melta guns. My Superiors are run stock with no upgrades at all. WAR
Melta gun and heavy flamers....in celestians/regular squads for me and either 10 sisters with a rhino or 13/14 on foot but celestians in repressor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281815-sisters-squad-armorment/#findComment-3493693 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
The best thing to do is pick your preferred method and stick to it - either the majority of your squads are flexible with melta and flamer or specialised with the same weapons. You can then add the "opposite" to flavour if you want as they will do well in support. I generally prefer the mixed squads as I like being able to have any unit support any other as it keeps my options open. Just don't bother with Stormbolters, they're sadly a waste of an upgrade but I'm sure everyone already knows that :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281815-sisters-squad-armorment/#findComment-3494396 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
I was going to say that you can't go wrong equipping a SoB squad, but then I remembers Stormbolters - it's easy to forget they exist :P Poor Stormbolters. They need something done to make them more competitive but I'm not sure what that could be. Fibonacci
The problem with stormbolters is that we don't have any assault units that can take them. Repentia do not carry ranged weapons, nor do any of the conclave. Celestians are as good as it gets. I would like to pull up some wargear from the past and rework it a bit. Add the Sarissa again but attach it to a Stormbolter and it counts as having two CCW. 3 points for a Stormbolter, 2 points for a Sarissa. And finally, let Celestians take a Hospitaler -- to help with having to swing last at T 3 -- and they become the close assault support they should have been. Ah, well. Just wishful thinking. Naminé
I like stormbolters, they help even out the cost of searchlights :p Also it's an extra shot at range for a mere 3 points. Redtoof
Maybe in future you will be able to give any number of celestians storm bolters? That'd be pretty tasty. WarriorFish
Stormbolters just leave me thinking "I could have a melta or flamer in there" as extra bolter shots isn't something we're lacking. They should just count it as a completely separate upgrade, so you can have your two melta/flamer and just give another Sister a SB as a 0-1 choice. It'd be better than nothing and probably the only way to make it decent? AdmLancel
I usually only pull out a Storm Bolter if I took Searchlights or something, and just stick it on a Superior if she does not have anything else. Eddie Orlock
I keep thinking that the stormbolters should be a cheep upgrade for an entire units weapons in addiiton to meltas and flamers. For a marginal cost all the celestians/dominions in the squad swap their bolters for storm bolters.
