I was blown away when I first saw the Centurions. I space marine wearing a warsuit was just too awesome. The models are a little stumpy straight out of the box so I added a spacer to the waists to lift them up a bit. I also chopped the legs at the hip to create striding poses so they don't look as static.

Having painted the entire 4th and 1st company and half of the scout company, I feel it's time to start a new company. I really like the fluff for the 2nd company but find the paint job lacking. As a compromise I decided to go full retro and paint them like the the old 2nd edition marines.

Oh and here's the all important comparison shot.

Can I put up your compariosn pic to the Lexicanum as a comparison pic?

You can but please credit Garfy at taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk please.

Very nice! What exactly do you mean by 'legs chopped at the hip'?

Cut vertically so the legs are able to swing forward more? Cut horizontally so they twist a little?

Vertically so the legs can swing forwards. There are WIP shots on my blog.

bwahahahah

I love it! it's so vibrant and it just pops. Like I bet someone is like "Dude make 'em dark and grim and stuff" but I really do love these kinda over the top space marine space marines in an old retro theme. It seems light hearted and fun!

I like the striding poses very much, can you post more of the leftmost centurion from different angles?

More angles... http://taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/showcase-ultramarine-centurion.html

Thanks for that. Great use of scenic bases to support their poses. Were the legs hard to reposition?
