¿¿¿¿What Chaos legion to built? HEEELLLLPPPPPP

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I´m into modeling and not into playing. I don´t know the rules. unsure.png

I keep on changing my mind on what chaos army to built.blink.png

I started some nurgle cultist, and then considere some slaanesh army because I liked the color theme but I can´t really find any inspiration or artwork for Slaanesh. wacko.png

What would you guys recommend?ermm.gif

I like to convert a lot.yes.gif

What are the most popular armies? I´m thinking about taking a popular army and putting my twist one it. That would be cool

Should I go original and create my own chapter?eek.gif

argh! my brain hurtssss!wallbash.gif

please help me, blush.png

cheers,cry.gif

Man, you are in an awesomely unique position as you do not care about playing so you can just make little bits of whatever you want. Not very helpful I guess, but it's my thoughts.

P.S: Tzeentch has always had the greatest possibilities for conversion in my opinion.

the legion is one of the possibilities. yes.gif

I have that concept of a legion based on the John Boorman´s Excalibur movie. A Mordred army. An army led by an angelic Mordred. Some of the blood angels character would work. I remember his army to look quite brutal and barbarian with dark shade armors.woot.gif

How about... No legion... Consider making a chaos warhost that pulls together the three/four major forces of chaos. Daemons, Marines and traitor guard/non-marine mortals... and the 4th... if you are up to a lot of conversion... the Dark Mechanicus.

You could base it on a larger Black Legion host, which consists of smaller hosts that are dedicated to certain gods (or are possibly originally from other legions).

For example...Make a small Tzeentch daemons army, a small Nurgle traitor guard force, small Khorne marine force, a small Slaanesh marine force. You can make each of these into a small project (or big if you enjoy it), but then combien them together to make a larger force... and as time passes (if you are enjoying it) you could make all of the different types of forces dedicated to all of the gods...

Just remember to have Big A and his Black Legion chosen leading it ;D

The Excalibur movie, using the old "pig nose basinets" ?

Their large shoulder armour and animal themed helms would be great done under Chaos (Terry English was the gentleman that did the armour btw).  Chaos has so much more freedom with modifying the looks of basic entries - the warp and worshipping chaos gods does funny things to a worshipper.  You could probably substitute your Chaos Marines, Bikers, Daemon Cavalry, and the like, with models from the fantasy range of chaos warriors and chaos knights etc.

@ infyrana

correct !

It seemed that this little piggy was not going to the market.

Now my mind is in ADD mode.

I'm thinking since I can't make my mind why don't I convert a basic SM box of 10 into 10 sergents for 10 differents squads and see which army works best for me?

Can you guys tell me what a sergent is suppose to be carrying in terms of equipements?

I'm thinking :

the 4 gods (of course), N, S, K, T

Alpha legion

Iron Warriors

World bearers

Black legion

I'm 2 short

Any ideas?

Two good options if you're not already in love with a particular faction are to go either Black Legion or Red Corsairs. Both of those groups take in anybody, so it's an opportunity to paint whatever scheme happens to catch your eye at any given time. It's maybe easiest with the Red Corsairs, because all you have to do is take a normal colour scheme from ANY space marine faction loyal or traitor and paint a big red X over the legion or chapter badge. With the Black Legion usually the armour is painted black but sometimes origins or distinctive markings are left in certain places. Either of those and you could do a different chapter or legion per squad, however you felt like at the time.

I remember Uron Blackheart from 10 years ago.

At this time, he didn't have a miniature.

They were one of the potential army at the time just to avoid the monotony of the painting.

I'm definitely a candidate for ADD.wallbash.gif

Nurgle - Death Guard / Nurgle daemons etc.  Forgeworld make the best kits for these troops - giving you a very WW1 sort of morbid post chem warfare looking troop, it's the only chaos army I've ever liked (and I hate daemons lol) - very good for customisation.

Khorne - berserkers, melee, daemons like bloodthirsters.

Tzeentch - 1k sons, very egyptian.

What about simply going Chaos Undivided (not that I am up on all the fluff since 15 years ago and if it's still an option), basically allowing you to field anything from all the gods and not specialising until you have found what works for you.  Maybe start with something generic and simple (in terms of style, markings and colour scheme) with the Alpha Legion.  Just do a single squad in their colours as a base starting unit, you can use it in the future for your compulsory units, or simply repaint as basic chaos marines of your god later on.

I would also recommend looking through all of the models you are able to get your hands on (ie go to GW website shop and browse all the characters and units) and pick what models you like.  You may end up making your choice simply because of a key model or style.

Thanks

Sound like an idea

I'll check forgeworld web site and the forum to see if anybody is working on the thousand sons

Chaos undivided why not

So now the question is should I pledge an oath and build enough until january ? :)

Since i'm traveling quite a lot next month it will be tricky

Let's see what I can convert this weekend with the few tools that I could find in China

I don't know the whole batwings and lightning doesn't really appeal to me

They are supposed to be cold blood killers right? The definition of a sm to me and obviously of a chaos sm

Maybe if I knew more about their background but you know what that sounds like an insteresting challenge

I'll add them to the list
