Welcome Brothers, to this hallowed hall. Tales of glory, tales of battles yet to be fought will reverberate on the walls. Relics of old, mysteries of new. This is the 20 game journey to perfection of the Templars 9the crusade. 

 

Hi and welcome to another twenty game series. For anyone who does not know how this works, I develop a core or idea for a list, then I play it no less than 20times. The trick to learning is practice. Over the course of these games I try to play against as many different armies and opponents as possible. Because of my schedule this journey could take a while. But each game will be broken down in detail, each move made scrutinized! It is time to bring the Templars out to play once more. So stay tuned, the aim is to learn the army together and make the most of our new book. 

 

 

So. The core of this list and idea will be simple. No Emperors Champion, Killy Master with ThunderHammer and Shield Eternal, some killy termies in a LRC and a crusader squad with Neos, and a tac squad in a rhino. 

 

For fire support (for now) I will have to use a shooty dread and a land speeder typhoon. 

 

The majority of the journey will be done at 1500pts. 

 

And first off, here is a small Homage to the OLD book. My last battle report with the old book 1500pts of Black Templars vs Chaos.

 

 

I am excited to start this new chapter. 

Interesting little battle report you had there, I'm sorry you had to face a list with so many daemon engines in there and all the misfortune you suffered early game really denied you some cinematic awesomeness.

 

I'm curious to see how your templars will fare using the new 6th edition rules.

So a preliminary army list:

 

Chapter Master (Marshal Augustine) - Terminator Armour for the relentless and the 2+ save, shield eternal (because, why not!?), thunder hammer. 

 

7 Assault Terminators 4 TH, SS , three hundred points of beat face.

LRC - kinda sad I dont get a dozer blade any more!

 

10 Initiates - power axe - flamer

10 Neophytes 

 

10 Space Marines (tac) - MMElta, Meltagun

Rhino

 

Typhoon

 

Dread, ML TL Lascannon

So. Need to play at least 20 games. Here are the main armies I still need to face:

 

Chaos - The Helldrake I see as the greatest threat.

 

Deamons - Fatescreamer, or flying circus both a pain. Although some sisters of battle allies will quickly solve this.

 

Tau - riptides

 

Eldar - speed and firepower...

 

Sisters of Battle - bolters for cheap. 

 

Grey Knights - AP3 PW's 

 

Dark Angels - ravenwing mostly, fast, tough and a lot of firepower.

 

Blood Angels - I think BT have the edge on BA... especially character to character in a challenge.

 

Other Space Marines ( so many doctrines, they are all different)

 

Orks - Large units of orks... meet huge marine units of doom.

Imperial Guard - IG have always been a pain, they can put out a tonne of firepower and force a lot of saves! at least each marine has a krack grenade now. 

 

Dark Eldar - I play DE, and I know that they are a super tough match up for any marine... have to kill raiders, ravagers and venoms... mop up. 

 

Other Templars - depends on how they are played.

 

Necrons - AV 13... and fliers. At least I get saves, not to worried about that... but mind shackles are a pain. 

Ok so I have a list that I am thinking of using now this is mainly because of the specific models that I currently own.

Crusader Squad 9 Initiates ,One Upgraded to a Sword Brother, Dual Lighting Claws, One upgraded to a powerfist, one upgraded to flamer, 5 Neophytes- 246pts


Land Raider Crusader Dedicated Transport , Storm Bolter - 255pts


Crusader Squad 6 Initiates , One upgraded to a Sword Brother , One caries a Multimelta , one carries a plasmagun , 3 neophytes  - 149pts

Rhino 35pts


Tactical Squad 10 Marines , One upgraded to a heavy bolter, one upgraded to a plasmagun - 165pts

Rhino 35pts


Land Speeder, Heavy Bolter and typhoon missile launcher - 75pts


Dreadnought,  exchange Multi melta for Twinlinked Lascannon, exchange powerfist for Missile Launcher - 135pts


Dreadnought, Venerable , Exchange Multi Melta for assault cannon  - 145 pts
