When browsing through eBay to look for good deals on minis, I stumbled  upon  this artist  who makes custom purity seals and pins.

the I (especailly since it is lacking the three bars) might be generic enough

The I with the "sunburst and skull" design is the Ecclesiarchy's symbol. The I with the three lines is the Inquisition's symbol. It's a small detail, but you can see the skull and sunburst on certain Sister Superiors and the Ecclesiarchy Priest model. Another Imperial I symbol that seems to be exclusive to the Sisters is the I with wings, which is both on the transfer sheet and molded onto the left pauldron of their power armour.

Yeah, that -(I)- is for 'Imperator', while the =][= is for 'Inquisition'.

Its one of the things that really annoys me about Sisters fanart - people keep insisting on drawing the chaplet ecclesiasticus carried by all Sisters (an icon bearing the sunburst I) as a barred Inquisition I.

Speaking of Misplaced Inquisitorial Is (plural of I?), I don't get why they put them on the Acro-Flagellants and the male Pentitent Engine pilot, when even back then, in the Witch Hunter Codex, they where clearly associated with the Ecclesiarchy, as you had to have a Priest as Ecclesiarchy Official to take them.

Only later, it came in handy, when Acro-Flagellants were Inquisitionalised into Codex Grey Knights.

But most annoying to me, are the Inquisitional Is on the Exorcist (Organ) model!

Especially since they (mercifully) refrained from putting such Is on any other Sister models, that were released back then.

That always bothered me as well.  Again, I blame Codex: Witchhunters making people think the Sisters were basically the Inquisition.  Ah well.  I quite like the Chaplet Ecclesiasticus pictured here.  I want one.
