Visions of Heresy

Emperor's Furor

Indeed it is, but then again I could drop a book covered with a thin layer of glue into a box of silver sparkles, giving me a shiny book which cost me only an extra $5 tongue.png

EDIT: Typos.

EDIT #2: Just thought I'd add that I'm not criticising people who did buy the limited edition book. I'm just saying that, in my mind, it's an absurd price to put on a book, even a shiny, leather-bound one.

If a non-collector one is coming out in March, then I don't really see the point in getting the "special" one for five times the price.

I'd say it's for those people like me who are collecting FW's HH books as it's bound in the same extravagant way and has the same high quality finish.

The materials used in the HH books and by extension the Visions Ltd ed's are of a very high quality even down to the heavy duty paper they're printed on, it's not a cheap product by any means and the cost is in line with similar high end publications and so not particularly overpriced (especially given the Visions limited nature, just look at how much they were going for on Ebay before BL said they had a few left over).

Now if you just want the info/pics and aren't bothered about the quality of the container then fair enough just buy the regular or digital versions (if available) but for me the advent of the Horus Heresy being covered in great detail like this needs something special to mark it.

I'll go for the cheaper regular or digital books for most things but I'd personally say HH warrants this kind of lavish attention, the good thing is with Visions though you have the choice depending on budget and needs ;)

I got the original for (no kidding) 0.05 cents on E-bay years ago. I'll stick with it.

Wanna hate me more? The big Liber Chaotica was a part of the deal......    :D

That orginal version of collected visions is now worth at least £100 to £250 on amazon or abebooks. Not a bad return on your original investment of almost nothing.

From my email to BL, they said they will be shipped this weekend.

Yeh I rang them direct yesterday and they said that the delay is because of how well they are wrapping each book. I hope that rings true.

If that book set costs what it does, it better be wrapped in 100,000 count egyptian cotton, then cushioned by cushion filled leather squares.

And then suspended in a neutral bouancy gel filled tank plated in gold.

I'll settle for an accompanying 1,000 points of assorted Forgeworld HH goodies. biggrin.png

Well, yes and no. The originals are still floating around all over and there are plenty of those everywhere and even if you bought all four at asking price, it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of US$180. All you're losing out on is new work and some fluff editing. To some people, that isn't worth another US$170.

At the same time, just went for spring, and you can get the exact thing, new art and all, for US$70.

This Collector's Edition was focused on a very specific target group. That target group isn't exactly the biggest. Especially since more than a few of that target group will be thinking along the lines of "I already bought this at a cheaper price last go round."

So I can understand why it might be surprising, but at the same time, I also understand why it is still up there.
