Phalanx Warder
So I have this fella armed with a power axe but is it the right choice? Its pined but not glued in place so I could swap it out if I failed in weapon selection. I am wondering how you arm your Praetor and the merits there of. GrandMagnus
Well, though I havent got a praetor yet Im planning to arm him with a boarding shield and a power sword and have him charge into combat in the head of a breacher squad for that massive hammer impact. Your combination of power weapon and pistol is good too, faster and +1 attack in CC. Good against large numbers. AfroCampbell
I dont see the advantage of Boarding Shield. Cannot claim the plus 1 CC for 2 CC weapons, and only 5++. Just Buy Iron Halo, then can use Archeotech pistol or whatever to gain the +1 Attack in CC. spu00sed
I like (from designing and building a list, I haven't had the chance to play) master crafted paragon blade, digital weapons, combi bio letter and iron halo. That give 5(6) S5 AP2 murderous strike attacks at initiative, rerolling one failed miss. all for 190 pts. The paragon blade is only 10 pts more that a power axe, and it loses the cumbersome rule, in return it is a specialist weapon (losing you 1 attack). This is an amazing offer in an environment filled with artificer armour and terminator plate AfroCampbell, I also don't see the point of a boarding shield, though some people like them for the defensive grenades they give the squad, and they can be paired with the paragon blade Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282180-how-do-you-arm-your-praetor/#findComment-3501064 Share on other sites
Emperor's Furor
With Arms, only kidding My Salamanders Praetor has a master crafted paragon weapon with built in volkite charger, he also wears a mantle of the eternal drake that makes him an Eternal Warrior. A long with other bits and pieces like Digital weapon and Iron Halo, he can both dish out a good amount of damage but also withstand more than most praetors can. http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/9086/bm3d.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282180-how-do-you-arm-your-praetor/#findComment-3501120 Share on other sites

Rune Priest Ridcully
Palatine Blade, Iron halo and plasma pistol, when I know more on Salamander heresy era goodies, that may change. DuskRaider
I prefer mine in Cataphractii armor, Master Crafted Paragon Blade (or Master Crafted Power Scythe), Digital Weapon, and either a Volkite Charger or Combi-Bolter. depthcharge12
Depends on how many points you want to spend and what Legion you take. I originally used and still like: +paragon blade, plasma pistol, refractor field, digi lasers First of all I use the uncommon plasma pistol because I dont want to waste the bs5 precision shot that the praetor has. Second of all, I would add an Iron halo, but my points dont allow for it. If point cost is not a problem...then I would advise the uberpraetor: +jetbike, iron halo, paragon blade, digi lasers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282180-how-do-you-arm-your-praetor/#findComment-3501477 Share on other sites

Noserenda
Paragon Blade, Bolter, Iron Halo, Digital Weapons. The Paragon blade really is far and away the best weapon choice! Sothalor
Agreed - is there a compelling reason to take a Power Axe over a Paragon Blade? Even if it's for WYSIWYG purposes, the Paragon Blade fluff describes that they come in all forms. Noctus Cornix
When I get to making my Iron Hands, if I'm not using Iron-Father Autek Mor as my Praetor (which I most certainly will be often) I will be using a Praetor with Specs along these lines -Iron-Father -Iron-Halo (Will model it as a Storm Shield) -Cyber-Familiar -Paragon Blade (Master Crafted) That, my friends, is a Warlord with a 2+ Armour Save, a 3+ Invulnerable Save, and 6+ Feel No Pain. To top it off, I'll be attaching him with a lovely command squad which I will grant them all combat shields with cyber familiars. The entire squad will have 2+/4++ In close combat and still be allowed doubly armed. What's not to love? Russ Brother 92
@Noctus - are cyber-familiars like the sonic shriekers for EC? So any IC can buy one? Or is it a unit/sgt upgrade like Power Scythes for DG? If so I think my Termies will be having them :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282180-how-do-you-arm-your-praetor/#findComment-3501757 Share on other sites
Noctus Cornix
Its any Character or Independent Character So any sergeant can take one. Sweet thing is that every member of a Command Squad is considered a Character so they can all take it.
