1500 Space Wolves/IG Guard allies

Hear da Lamentation

Recommended Posts

Hiya, only ever played SW, only know SW smile.png So I thought I'd try a pretty different list, but one that I do want to be competitive with. My meta is marines, orcs and nids.

RunePriest (divination)

7 Wolf Guard.

2 termies with powerfists go with GH

1 termie with cplasma and powerfst, 4 powerarmour and cplasmas and drop pod

10 Grey Hunters 2plasma, standard

10 Grey Hunters 2plasma, standard

5 Longfangs (4ml)

5 Longfangs (4ml)

3 TWC (ss / th / mb|)

Imperial Guard Allies

HQ Company Command Squad

Platoon Command Squad

3 x 10 Infantry Squad (ACx3)

Marbo

AEGIS DEFENCE LINE (no gun ... couldn't afford it)

Plan is to have the drop pod and marbo causing havoc in the back line (psychologically before they even turn up as well I would imagine)

EIther the IG take position behind the aegis, or Russ Willing, I get Invulnerable with the RP and then they advance and the LF have the aegis.

GH do what they do best, take and hold

TWC back the lot up with some nasty CC.

Would love comments. (I am a little worries about lack of anti tank with the drop pod unit)

Im sure one of the mods will be happy to move the thread smile.png

aye id maybe mix a couple of melta into your pod so you have some anti tank in there if needed. You have a lot to take on AV12-13 with decent dice (krak missles and autocannons), but you'l struggle against AV14

The two termies going with grey hunters...i presume your gonna have them up front and soaking up wounds...if so i wouldnt bother with the powerfists, just take the free poweraxe instead.

The thunderwolves im not sure work with this list, unless used as a counterattack unit, as theyre gonna be ahead of the rest of the army most of the time, i suppose you could bubble wrap them in guardsmen for a couple turns then have them burst forth smile.png

Hi, thanks for the reply DanPesci.

I have taken your advice and dropped the fists from the wolfguard termies leading the Grey Hunters.  This has given me enough points to get termie armour for my RunePriest (something tells me he will be quite a target for anything which can pick out ICs) :)

I've never tried any IG - and Marbo is a real trial.  Very different to my usual army which relies on the first 2 rounds to force the opposition to come at me while I outshoot them.  This time I will need to take advantage of the 2 deepstrikers.  I would appreciate any advice on that - how to deal with a mainly footslogging army with 2 relatively killable deepstrike untis.

Obviously I am also concerned with giving away first kill.  I usually concentrate on getting this point in the 1st turn, concentrating all of my fire on one killable unit (preferably the best target as well of course) !  With Marbo in particular (and the drop pod) I have 2 easy first kills.

And yes, the TWC are my counterattack unit, they can put out a nasty CC punch for relatively low cost as long as you don't have to equip them for running straight at the enemy.
