For Luther!

Dear former brothers,

Been playing 40K for the last 7 years and took a little break when 6th edition came out and started Fantasy. Since my Fantasy army is now done and I sold my old Marines I wanted to start a nice looking army and I decided to build them in the style of my Kill Team that are the Fallen Angels. When I get my laptop back or when I find the cd I need to post pics they will be up here.

Got my first squad ready, cause they were my Kill Team, and bought the Libby from Dark Vengeance, still got a metal Ezekiel that was my first 40K model that I got from my mate aswell.

Anyway I hope you Unforgiven will help a former brother, that is right, out with helping him make an army worthy of Luther biggrin.png

I played a lot of tournaments in 5th edition so I know how to play the game but only played 3 game sin 6th so far and I don't wnat to do the Rhino spam anymore cause it does not work that good anymore and the Fallen probably don't have acces to a lot of vehicles. Been playing competitive through 5th but when I started playing Fantasy I am just playing more for fun and want to keep that going in 6th 40K.

So I am building a 1000 point list wich I think will be pretty good but some help is always nice, btw I am playing with the Dark Angel Codex ofcourse.

Anyway can you 'Loyalists' please help me out with the best loadout for a 5 men Deepstriking Terminator unit.

Thanx,

Vissah

Stick to our great fliers. Always field three . Also, Max out veteran squad numbers but give them no upgrades. Deep strike Deathwing far apart from each other near table edges. They like to be heros so give them the chance and try not to support them... Do this and you'll be fine. .. "brother"

FB is on it, our basic troops aresome of our best tools. Since you're doing the fallen, low model count might help keep things on the fluffier side Deathwing, and Ravenwing black Knights are great for this.

I am here to absolve you of your sin, repent and know peace

It depends on the role you want it to fulfill, if you are fighting lots of AP2 weapons, then deepstriking is suicidal without TH/SS which negates the best advantage we get (twin-linked guns on deepstrike turn) but if you want the firepower, then stormbolters and an Assault Cannon. Unless you fight more armour, cos we can split-fire, so twin linked Cyclone into the rear of most tanks turns them into scrap metal.

So in summary, the loadout will vary depending on the enemy your fighting.

I've come to love my Whirlwinds this edition for barrage sniping pesky Grimnoires of True Names out of pink horror units and making Tau gunlines hate like. Fielding two of them is key and at 65pts its almost an auto-include! I'm beginning to favor them over my Vindicators due to the new wound allocation. Forcing wounds on special weapons/characters hidden behind a squad is wonderful. Plus the new FW whirlwinds are just downright sexy!

Are you looking to make a fluff army or a competitive army? Company vets can all have a bolt pistol and plasma pistol, so you can make a "cypher like" squad. You can also give a company master a plasma pistol and make a cypher out of him, though without any kind of power weapon.

If it's competitive, well, there are tons of guides already. A simple search on this site will yield a lot of discussions.

One huge suggestion though - get yourself a flyer or three. They're stupid powerful and everyone else fields them.

'Brothers' Thanx for the 'warm' welcome on the Rock I am looking forward for my stay in this part of the forum.

There are some really nice tips you guy sgave me and I want to say thank you for them, specially the one with all the Vets with no upgrades and as many flyers as I can cram into my list is a really good one tongue.png.

I already got a small 1000 points list and I ordered the models at my mates store and I think I know what to do with the Termies now, TH/SH and the rest with Bolters and a Cyclone will be best I think. I always like to make all comers lists so I am going that route. Competitive play and be fun but I am done with it cause I did it for 5 years and I played some games that really wanted me to quit the hobby so I am now just playing for fun. I also like to keep vehicles to a minimum cause when you are on the run you will not be dragging a Rhino with you, there will be a Dread at some point cause a Fallen Dread is just awesome biggrin.png

I want to keep a Fallen theme going with a couple squads fo Marines backed up by Devastators and Termies, maybe later a Dread will make it into my list, I like to keep mostly boots on the ground. I played with only Rhino's and a Land Raider in 5th so I am looking for something different then just riding around so I also ordered a Defence Line cause I want to get a hopeless we are being hunted and on the defence theme going.

My force will be led by a Librarian cause I like Zahariel from the Heresy books.

Anyway you guys will see me around this part of the forum a lot more now and I hope I can stay out of your hands and out run the Chaplains tongue.png

  • 4 months later...

Took a long time but since I have a new phone and I played a tournament test game last monday I wll present you a nice action shot that I made during the game. Unfortunatly this is the only pic I took cause this was a game against someone who was getting back into Warhammer and I had to help him out so sorry about that. What the made the game really good was that I was playing against pure Deathwing biggrin.png

The game was 900 points with heavy restriction for an upcoming 2v2 tournament, basicly it is all infantry that is why you see a banner at the back that is the Banner of Devastation ofcourse :D

If you guys want to see some more up close pics just let me know.

Anyway these are my Fallen Angels.

Hey everyone,

Sorry for bringing up this old thread but I just want to show my army in the Dark Angels forum. It is also in the Hall of Honour forum but I think you guys can appreciate this.

Been playing 40K for the past ten years and about two years ago I had enough if it, sold everything but only kept my Kill Team that consisted of an Fallen Angels tactical squad.
Well after some time it started to itch again and I decided to build an army the same style as my Kill Team and decided to spend more time on them and make them stand out more then the army that I had. Basicly it is build with units that are in the Marine codex for ages and will never leave the codex so that in the years to come I will have a fully legal, fully functional army that can take on their enemies.

I also moved to Japan with my wife 5 months ago and just got my models. If someone reading this post lives in Japan and is up for a game please message me cause I am really looking forward for a game after two years of not playing.

Anyway I will just show some picture otherwise my rambling will start to bore everyone.

Enjoy!!!

As you can see on the pictures I like to model all my models with all their wargear. They are all got a pistol, grenades and if they are not wearing a helmet they got there helmet with them.
Also all my models got robes. I think this gives the army a good theme and feel and I just think it looks cool. The guy manning the multi melta on the Land Raider also got a robe on to keep the theme going

Full army shot (note there are still a couple of models that need finishing but I Wanted to show the army as a whole)

Been thinking of switching the plama gun for a flamer on the Land Raider squad. The flamer is my favorite weapon and they will be going into combat more then the Rhino squads.

Thanks for looking at my army and if you want to see some more close ups I will put them up for you.

I have to say, these look really nice all together! A very nice looking force, congratulations.

You've managed to get a very clean painting style to still look nice and gritty - just how I like it!

@Lokisword thank you. My painting is not of the highest skill but I did my best to make them look good on the tabletop.

@Immersturm Well mate there is a new Dex coming so getting in the mood for a crusade is a good thing if you ask me. You can always pretend they are green

Heh, I always a reason to launch another holy war against the dark powers. Not that one is needed :D

Besides, my dudes are not Marines. They are righteous dudes in archeotech exoskeletons which they got together with their Knights way back when the House was founded. 100% custom. That means I can play them all ;)

Just a simple Command Squad with bolters and the Banner of Devastation.

I don`t have to big banner wielding arm so I had to do with a smaller banner cause back then I had to finish the models for a duo tournament and I did not have the time nor the money to get the big banner wielding arm.

Looking good Vissah - I'll be interested to see what you paint next. I like the fact that your highlights on the black aren't too stark - it's not a forgiving colour (no pun intended).
