Lost and Found: Legiones II et XI

Ok here is my vast ensemble on this topic:

At least one of the Unkown Legions was drawn into combat with the other Legions. Evidence is as follows:

Russ stated that before Prospero he and his legion had fought Astartes before, but that could refer to the Night of the Wolves, or their encounter with the Dark Angels.

Early in the Great Crusade, the Wolves fought in two campaigns that had ALL DATA ERASED.

When the soon-to-be Gal Vorbak are shown the past by Ingethel, the Chaplain ( I think ) looks at one of the unknown primarchs' pods and says they should kill him and save themselves the trouble. He also says he is still pure and not yet corrupted.

Lorgar asks Magnus if he would so easily make oaths like Horus or Fulgrim, suggesting they had something to do with the two.

Sanguinius says if the Emperor found out about the Thirst, he would disband the Blood Angels, suggesting gene-degredation had something to do with their destruction.

Lorgar was close to the two ( hinted at in First Heretic ) suggesting they shared some of his views, or were similar.

Also, the two are most likely still in active service, due to a GW pic showing some of the official 40k era chapters and their names and colours, but two have all data erased along with name and colour. This could not be traitor for no renegades or traiors appear on the pic.

Also, there is the whole issue of the Ultramarine recruit boost, but I put it down to that probably being around the time Guilliman was found, causing a surge of new recruits, and I don't think the Ultramarines would allow ones so far from grace to enter their ranks.

If the names and colors were erased, then how do you know they weren't renegades or traitors? msn-wink.gif

No but seriously, one of the things brought up in the Soul Drinkers series was that all mention of the Chapter in the standard Imperium was erased. This actually allowed them to fight alongside quite a few Imperials so long as they hid their mutations. So just because the names and colors are erased, it doesn't mean those chapters have to be the Lost Legions.

And I don't recall the suggestion that Lorgar was close with them. It was sad that they would cause him great grief, but that can be said of almost all the Primarchs. Except Angron and Curze.

But the Word Bearers said that they were involved in the censure of the XI Legion. Or at least suggested it. Meaning that either the Space Wolves wer

To the point of the Soul Drinker/renegade thing, it was onoy strict loyalists on the page. No Relictors leeway stuff.

And with Lorgar, I seem to remember it mentioning how especially grief stricken Lorgar was at their loss.

If the Lost Legions were censured to destruction, then they wouldn't exactly be considered Loyalists either.

And this is also the same Lorgar who wanted to save Angron from the Nails. He has been shown to be compassionate about all of the Primarchs in a manner similar to Vulkan.

My choices are for both forgotten legion primarchs to have founded their own empires from the homeworlds their pods landed on. Each empire was formidable in their own right and each sought to change their Father's empire to match their own. Political hilarity ensued and both legions had to be brought down.

II Legio Sun Dragons

Inspiration: Japanese Empire and Samurai

Tactics: traditional large infantry, blades, and lances replaced in 30K/40K

   by Tactical and Assault specialists.

Symbol: Red sun on gold (or preferably, gold dragon profile on red sun disc ... Mortal Kombaaaat!)

Colour scheme: Gold and red. Excessively martial in attitude, dishonour brought death to this "lost" legion

XI Legio Immortals

Inspiration: Persian Empire

Tactics: classic themed preferred volleys of arrows and cavalry replaced in 30K/40k

by Heavy Support and Fast Attacks for softening up the enemy and striking with shock attacks.

Symbol: Spearhead (gold for officers, silver for soldiers)

Colour scheme: Black and gold - Chaos' Black Legion is an indirect homage to this forgotten "damned" legion

An added thought was for one of these chapters to be responsible for an added instability in the Space Wolves' geneseed. Could one of these legions have used a cabal of powerful psykers/librarians to lash out and "curse" the Space Wolves while in their own death throes? Maybe the Sun Dragons cursed them while committing a legion-wide seppuku focusing their dying hated at the Wolves. Maybe the Immortals had a psychic genetic flaw that allowed self healing and upon their demise their psychic death screams rippled and affected the Wolves. Blood curses are the worst...
