Quixus
I'm planning on kitbashing a librarian using among others the following parts: - a Berzerker Helmet without bunny ears - a Berzerker Shoulder Pad to represent the daemon head insignia What do you guys think, would this look too chaotic? I'm still not sure which torso front to use. Any suggestions? The model will use MKVI legs. And lastly a more game related question, sword, axe or something else? Olis
I'd switch out the berserker shoulder pad for something else, tbh. I don't think it would feel right on a libby. As for torso fronts, if you can lay your hands on an old one like this: http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m_ekqWBK4g3OcBxvZLSfblA.jpg I think that would be a great librarian torso. And the weapon? Staves are easy enough to come by now - using one of those instantly picks out a model as a librarian, imho. Odsox
I like the shaved-down Berzerker helm idea, that T-visor works for so much stuff. As for the shoulder pad, may I recommend instead using a Defiler Head? They slot over MkVII shoulder pads really snug and look pretty badass. I've used one, and because my model WAS Chaotic, I cut the horns off and greenstuffed a big loopy tongue hanging out of the daemon's mouth. You might want to use something else to jam his gob up though... maybe a bound scroll from a Skaven kit, or one of those weird non-combat-nunchucks that come with a Terminator box. You know the things (bottom row, second from the left). And force-sword. Definitely. Unless you give him a 3++, in which case, axe. Or if you're going for authenticity, staff. SO MANY CHOICES Good luck! Od. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282334-librarian-kitbash-too-chaotic/#findComment-3504185 Share on other sites
Quixus
I thought the defiler head was much larger. Have you got a picture of your chaos marine with the defiler head? I can't find it on your thread of finished miniatures. It sounds like a good idea but my favorite bitz site does not have them atm. Any other suggestions. Too bad that is a terminator pad. I think it would fit perfectly on a librarian. Nunchucks/scroll cases from the command squad are already reserved. How is a staff more authentic than the other force weapon options? lhg033
why not try grey knights bits ? edit: apologies - meant to include that some libby models just have the book and sword e.g. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282334-librarian-kitbash-too-chaotic/#findComment-3504262 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
Any shoulder pad with a skull on it should be easy enough to add horns to with a little putty. The Chaos Space Marine set has quite a few, although you will need to shave down the arrows/spikes on them with a sharp knife first. I think the CSM Terminator pad is great, but will really only fit a Terminator. I also think that it's a bit too Chaotic for a Marine like a Librarian (although with the horns trimmed off, it'd good for a Chappy). Brother Captain Sirus
If you stick a skull in the middle of a shoulder pad (the manufactorum terrain piece has some good sized ones) and then stick some horns on with GS it works well. If your looking for ideas i have some pics in my gallery of a kitbashed libby i did a while ago and it may help you get some inspiration. Would link photos but my phone says no lol. Good luck with your kitbash Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282334-librarian-kitbash-too-chaotic/#findComment-3504324 Share on other sites
Quixus
why not try grey knights bits ? edit: apologies - meant to include that some libby models just have the book and sword I know, that was my second choice. Unfortunately those shoulder pads with book and sword are for the left arm, and that's where the chapter symbol goes. Very few GK shoulder pads work on both arms. Or you would have to shave off the ridge. Any shoulder pad with a skull on it should be easy enough to add horns to with a little putty. Plenty of room for the horns and a downward arrow isn't even obviously chaotic. What do you guys think about gluing this skull to a blank shoulder pad? "Horny" enough? Unfortunately those shoulder pads with book and sword are for the left arm, and that's where the chapter symbol goes. Very few GK shoulder pads work on both arms. Or you would have to shave off the ridge. You can also build the ridge up to be symmetrical with a little plastic card and putty. Not too difficult. What do you guys think about gluing this skull to a blank shoulder pad? "Horny" enough? I have that part, and I doubt it would be suitable - lots more work involved in getting that to look right compared to just putting horns on a skull-pad. Brother Captain Sirus
Reposting since shut down these are photos of my kitbashed libby, with a skull taken from the mechanicum terrain back glued to shoulder then greenstuffed and some GS work to put horns on the power pack with skull in the middle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282334-librarian-kitbash-too-chaotic/#findComment-3504742 Share on other sites
