Conundrum....help needed brothers

I am a long time lurker, part time poster and long time Wolf... a grey hunter for sure as Ive had a wulfen heart since 4th edition and have had armies of various sorts since the RT days. A marine player tried and true I have a task at hand that requires some assistance from the members of the Rout.

I spent an inordinate amount of energy True scaling a SW army when our codex came out. I sold my nids, I traded my Eldar, I stalled my guard army, painted a few other armies and put my sons Orks on hold. Oh, glorious days as the beauty of a true scaled force came to fruition and took to the field...a fluffy army for sure it pummeled from afar and dashed heads up close...as days have passed there is this new idea on the horizon...

I am needing input on a 30k/40k army... I see the new/old marks of armour and the FW sculpts of freaking incredibleness and I find myself being drawn back to a regular scale army...

I am thinking of liquidating my True scale army to fund a new dream while recognizing that it will be at least a year before the Sons of Fenris see any FW love in the form of a HH book. So...my question to my brothers begins with...what will the Wolves look like in 30K?

I love the mkiii armour as its brutal and efficient... 20 man blocks of GH advancing under the tutelage of WG in Cataphractii  armour with a Contemptor armed with twin AC... ugh...so many choices and not alot of direction just yet...

Ideas my friends... :)

many thanks

 Hard to really gauge.

In the Horus Heresy novels most Primarchs and by extension, their Astartes Legions, refer to the Space Wolves as "Clinically Insane" or "Barbarians". So it is safe to infer once Russ takes over his Legion they begin to resemble their primarch more and more. Adopting their lord's more "rustic" personality and the culture of Fenris.

Prior to Russ' arrival, the legion would have been genetically and physically similar to their Primarch but identical to the more tradition Legions organizationally speaking. So, if you want, you can start out using the present rules for the Astartes Legion and when the new book comes out just praise the Emperor for bring your Primarch home and change your List.

I'd rather wait until next year when FW comes out with actual VI Legion stuff. But for now what I'm doing is buying test minis (1 MKIIII, 1 MKIV) so I can play with some color schemes and get an idea on some conversions and the limitations that come with each bit.
  • 2 weeks later...

Have the possibility of trading for a SOH army inc- 30 marines, 10 assault marines, 10 justarien termis, 2 apothecaries, 4 las rapiers, abby/loken and a few other morsels... already assembled w/ FW SOH pads but Im thinking I can finagle the pads off of the right shoulder and use the kromlech sons of thor shoulder pads to wolf them up a lil.

Good thing is only the termis are painted so I will be able to switch up the paint with no problem.

I am selling my TS SW infantry and keeping the vehicles and contemptor- I made a baneraider crusader and used SOB repressor kits for the rhinos- will fluff those as gifts from a  grateful Mechanicus world. Have a MKII Baneraider conversion Ive had going for way to long to finish up and have a extended storm raven from a trade for some 30k missions (havent gotten through Betrayal to army lists to see if they are around back then though ;)

I have a huge Guard army so I will be theming both forces together.

Anyways... will be posting pics as this come together
