Colour Scheme help

Good evening all,

I'd just like to take the time to say hello as this is my first post though I have been reading the boards etc for many months.

The reason I've finally posted is that I've got some pics of a Colour scheme that was in White Dwarf many years ago (though I have the magazine trying to find which it was in has proved fruitless so far :S) and I want to know if anyone knows how to replicate them.

They was known as the Sons Of Jaghatai, I've found the pics online if anyone can help? (I'll upload If I can figure out how :S If not you can find the dark purple colour scheme via google pics)

Thank you for your time.

Regards

Ryan

So, you are asking for tips on how to paint the scheme, correct? If so, read on, otherwise, ignore me teehee.gif

So, it appears only the Veterans have the White Helmet, as do standard Codex Marines, so just the left shoulder and maybe a knee are white. You can still start with a Base Coat spray of white though, as white is one of the more difficult colors to work with. Then you can use multiple coats of Nuln Oil shade on the parts you want black like the soft armor between the actual plates of armor, whereas just painting it black the depth and textures don't show up as well. For the main armor, GW uses many more layers and colors than I do, I personally would start with a purple like Xerxes Purple (or Naggaroth Night is the marketed "base" layer by GW, I only need the "base" paints for things like white or skin tones). From there, put layers, however many for your desired shade of purple, of Drakenhof Nightshade (mix some Nuln Oil with the Nightshade for a very dark Purple). Afterwords you can highlight with either the same Xerxes Purple, or the next Darker/Lighter shade of purple depending on how dark you want the purple.

There's quite a lot of red in that purple so I would suggest using something like Royal Purple from Vallejo:

I would guess a black base, then either a black + royal purple or charadon granite + royal purple(lovely deep wine purple), with royal purple thick highlights, heavy black wash and possibly a druchii violet in there as well and then finish off with royal purple highlights.

The white seems to be normal white through bone, so either a yellow or light brown base, followed by bleached bone then slightly lighter mixes of bone + white up to white finish.
