Imperial fist captain on bike conversion help

Recommended Posts

hi  guys I've recently drawn up an army list and need to convert an imperial fist captain on a bike, with storm shield, artificer armour and thunder hammer

I was thinking of a raven wing command bike with the lower robes as a starting point with the shrine thing acting as his storm shield, any suggestions would be great, I haven't converted a bike character before

Absolutely brother, I'd be glad to help; I even started with the same bike and bike legs!

What you need to realize before you begin is that the headlight faring where the guns are mounted is shaped slightly differently than the "vanilla" bike- and unless you are willing to by both farings and combine them so they fit, and pin it to the bike- it'll be tricky to keep it on there. Likewise, the handlebars are not cross compatible- so dont try using a vanilla handlebar set on the bike because again, it'll need pinning to work.

The shrine does not actually fit by itself onto the back of the bike- it is designed to be combined with the angels holding the iron halo style bit.  If you want to include the shrine by itself, you will have to file down the bottom of the bit so it sits flush against the bike, and eventually gap fill the hole left.  You might want to make some kind of cable that attaches to his armor or backpack so people will understand it is a storm shield generator.

For the thunderhammer- try to find one that is power armor sized- terminator thunderhammers look enormous and a bit silly on power armored captains. The new vanguard box has one if I remember correctly.

Alternatively- you can use the bike faring from the ravenwing command squad and file off the dark angel specific topper (crossed swords, da icon, etc.) and replace it with aquila/eagle heads and make the headlight faring into an ornate shield itself. Add cable, a power supply etc; that way the bike itself is the shield.  Just a thought.

If you need any more information, have a conversion idea, etc. feel free to PM me and I'll hear you out.  Hope this helps!

I have the thunder hammer already that's the least of my worries, I was thinking of just removing the raven wing icons and replacing them with generic imperial ones or even an imperial fist icon. I had a look at the shine and was thinking what if they were holding an imperial fist motif or would that just look odd.

I like the idea of the bike itself being the shield as it can give me some background for my chapter and who is there to say there are no bike relics out there lol.

I'm torn between converting the captain or getting some troops I'm not in any huge rush to build the whole army.

once I start it I will try and post in in works in progress

How does he steer? The Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield both require one arm to use.

the plan is to represent the storm shield on the bike as some kind os chapter relic bike or something, im thinking of mounting a storm shield as a plaque on a shine on an ornate bike. its going to be tough to get it looking good but im going to give it ago as soon as ive decided on what im using and have the funds to get it

Machine spirit steers for him?

Machine spirit steers for him?

Imperial Fist Captain: Well, together again.

K.I.T.T..: I am incapable of happiness, but I will say it seems logical that you are here.

Imperial Fist Captain: Yeah, I know what you mean. Mind if I drive?

K.I.T.T.: Is this going to become a habit?

Imperial Fist Captain: Definitely.
