Hey brothers, Im looking for some help with the Horus Heresys timeline.

As far as I know the war spaned 7 years, correct? The start at Isstvan III and the end at the Battle for Terra (followed by the age of scouring).

But Im interested in know the following:

How long was the dropsite massacre on Isstvan V?

How long was the battle for Terra?

Other than Calth, Prospero, Phall and Signus Prime (thats the one with the BA and deamons, right?), what other major conflicts occured during those 7 years?

I feel the major problem with Lexicanum and other wiki sources is most say the battles ended after what sounds like a couple of hours or days, which in my mind just doesnt feel right when you consider whe are talking about space marine legions fighting eachother.

Thank you, any info will be appreciated.

Yep.

How long was the dropsite massacre on Isstvan V?

Are you talking of the Massacre itself or the protracted hunt afterwards too? I know the whole affair lasted about 100 days, give or take, if I recall Ravens Flight correctly.

How long was the battle for Terra?

I believe the duration was fifty-five days of ground operations, if recollection doesn't fail me. There was also thirty days of battle for orbital superiority around Terra prior to that, I think.

Other than Calth, Prospero, Phall and Signus Prime (thats the one with the BA and deamons, right?), what other major conflicts occured during those 7 years?

Tallarn springs to mind. Pretty major event that one - it was the largest armoured conflicts in the history of the Imperium.

white scars v alpha legion at chondax

space wolves v alpha legion at alaxxes (sp?)

mars

they also mentioned something at games day, off the top of my head, it was the battle of sonum?

probably miles off with that. my memory is shocking

we're just over halfway through, so there'll be plenty more epic showdowns on the way to terra

Whats the main story of Unremembered Empire btw? Is it worth reading?

Also, in the hunt for survivors on Isstvan V was it only a few companies from each legion left over to hunt them down while the rest continued onward or did the entire traitor legions take care of it?

I'm fairly sure the bulk of the World Eaters went a-hunting (Ravens Flight) but I'm not so certain of the other traitor Legions. There was definitely an Alpha Legion presence there (Deliverance Lost) but I don't recall the strength of the force left behind, if it was ever mentioned.

Through Raven's Flight, Face of Treachery, Deliverance Lost and (as I understand it)Forgeworld's Massacre make the chase seem like a very big affair. According to Massacre, immediately following the Drop Site, the Night Lords began the chase. According to Raven's Flight, at one point the Iron Warriors took up the reigns, or the Raven Guard had just moved into a zone heavily populated with the IV Legion. By Face of Treachery and Deliverance Lost, we see that the World Eaters are literally swarming the Raven Guard's last stand in a tidal wave. Also from Deliverance Lost, we find out that a massive portion of each of the Traitor Legions are still at Istvaan as the Raven Guard then have to evade all of those ships to escape the system. Since Angron was there, it is most probable this was before he and Lorgar left for the Shadow Crusade.

It was really quite surprisingly extensive.

Dumah: I wasnt locking for spoilers, as you said they are no fun. Guess I will have to read it then :D

Kol: So, it would be fair to say the traitor legions didnt leave until they had made sure they had erradicated as many loyalists as possible. For a 100 days as said before in this thread. Okay then.

Yeah, sorry I was just responding to your post about the numbers and Olis' post about who all was there.

No worry, I dont think it could be considered spoilers what you said, at least not in my opinion. It would have been another thing if you said "character X got it handed to him character Y at location Z while a-b things occured".

Whats the main story of Unremembered Empire btw? Is it worth reading?

Yes, very worth it, but that's to be expected of Mr. Abnett. If you want to know the story, I'd encourage you to just read it; spoilers are no fun.

Seconded, you have to read it.  Very pivotal in the series and leaves some nice cliffhangers!

In that case, I doubt we're even halfway. Calth was almost at the start of the conflict so we've got, what, six years to go?

I just started reading Betrayer, and Lorgar mentions to Magnus that it took them (Word Bearers and World Eaters) 1 year to make it to Armatura, which happened shortly after Calth.
